Based purely on League position since The Football League's.
inauguration (1888) these are the top 50 Clubs.

The League champions are awarded 92 League pts, runners-up 91, etc
and the bottom team in League 2/Div 4 get 1 point.
(Between 1924 and 1950, there were only 88 Clubs in the League,
and so the League champions get 88 League pts.)
Between 1888 (12 Clubs) and 1923 (86 Clubs) there were varying
nos of League members. The Champs get 12 pts (for example) for
winning the 1888-89 season,
When there were 2 Division 3s (North & South), the winners would have
each received 49 pts, whilst the runners-up both got 47.

Ta, Bob.
I first got these stats together about 10 years ago, because my Dingle workmate kept going on about how they had outshone us through history. (Funny, I thought, W*lves have only really excelled in the 50s). Anyway, it shut him up once and for all, especially when I showed him that they would have to finish a full Division (say 20 places) above us for the next 20 years before I'd accept they were a bigger* force.

* I know it's no reflection of greatness by today's definition. (Just ask Chelsea and Man City fans who think it's to do with Owners' Bank Account!).
Where will we be in 20, 50 years time???
