Come on Dev, please be more optimistic this season.

Dev, there is a footballer in there somewhere. If MA thinks he can find it and work with it then who are we to question him. In my honest opinion he's flogging a dead horse but who knows. MA doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly so if Weir doesn't step up I don't think he will last long.

This is flogging a dead horse and relying on its leadership qualities to head the Charge of the Light Brigade.

My choice would have been Laurence Maguire, but random select would have worked better.

Throughout his recruitment process MA has been talking about the attitude of the players he's signed. Now he makes the guy who didn't want to stay captain.

Dye his hair blonde, comb it over and call him Donald!

If we called him that we would end up with a squad of Russians.
Wonder what it is that Putin has got over him? Probably the full video of him and Stormy, now how much would that be worth?

Well I'd pay a lot not to watch it.

By the way, sorry Matt but Weir as captain was the perfect antidote for any optimism I was beginning to feel. His only experience of Conference football was as a loanee at York City where he made 5 appearances, so we are making an old league player on the way down captain over younger men who want to make their way.

In 280 games Weir has scored just 12 goals. That's one every 23 games! His one successful phase in his career came at Burton, since then he has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. How the hell will the team react to the appointment of a player who may well have had it, who stated he didn't want to stay?

Maybe it's an act of counter-intuitive genius, but it makes the offer of 7/1 against us winning the league look the worst bet of the year.
