With all the stats flying about
Hal Robson Kanu may not be a bad a signing as we think
Anyone can make stats look bad
But look deeper and his 7 Premier League Goals actually came from only 13 starts
Interesting ............
Quote from: Hull Baggie on Today at 12:45:30 PM
He played in the Prem for Reading, mostly as a sub.

Yeah 13 starts and 12 appearances off the bench. Finished the season with 7 goals and 1 assist. (£30m Moussa Sissoko got 1 goal and 7 assists last season for Newcastle.)
Wikipedia had him listed as a left winger for that season:

I saw him play for Reading quite a bit and didn't rate him. Couldn't really beat anyone with skill, couldn't see a pass, wasn't exactly pacy. Just seemed to be a big bustler who put himself about and got a few scuffed goals and headers.
Obviously didn't see him week in week out, so hoping I'm wrong about him...
The interesting thing is, as an out of contract player, we didn't need to sign him on deadline day. So the fact we pushed it through late on deadline day suggests it was simply a signing to appease the fans (to mask the fact we didn't actually sign who we wanted and because 3 signings simply looks better than 2). I don't believe he's someone we genuinely wanted because if he was, we could've got this done before the start of the season.
Hoping he delivers but it's very much a sign of desperation when you're rushing a bosman in on deadline day at 10pm...

best way to describe this signing is an ok stop gap, we will need to invest in Jan which was hinted at in the chairmans statement

It's possible we DID make moves to sign him earlier but he chose to wait till the end of the window to assess all/any offers. Not saying that DID happen, it's just possible.
Just cos the guy hasn't cost a zillion, or been outstanding before, doesn't mean we shouldn't give him all our support.
He may well come good with the confidence of the Welsh performances behind him too.

Can we really judge any striker on their true worth, when all we do is hoof the ball, hopefully to them and pray they can do something with it?
Without some form of creativity in the midfield, a strikers opportunities are severely limited. Rondon is a prime example, look at the way he seems to knock them in for fun when playing nationally and did not do a bad job at Zenit before he joined us where his figures were 28 in 57, a ratio of a goal in 2.04 games. Since joining us he is 11 in 44 or a ratio of a goal every 4 games.
You remember that chant we had for Geoff Horsfield "Feed the horse", it sums it up nicely, you have to feed your strikers for them to score!!!
