I'll say it again, give Ideye service and he IS a £10m striker. Hope Pulis starts playing him ahead of Vic because he offers so much more of a goal threat.

Love the video, was Victor limping, another injury?

If Big Vic could stay injury free, I'd be happy to keep him. We'd never get our six million back anyway!

Here are some random & belated thoughts from the Rovers game. (nice local venue for me)

Pleasantly surprised to enter the terraces (remember those ?) and see Rickie warming up. Not so pleasant to watch us hitting long, high balls in his general direction for the first 15 minutes. After that things settled into to more of a passing game.

Defensively, thought Myhill made a couple of good stops, while Olsson and Brunt looked solid. Dawson made an early error to gift rovers a chance, but otherwise looked OK. Chester looked to be unfamiliar at RB, drifting inside too often leaving lots of space for the Rovers wide man. Thought he may have got moved into the middle for part of the game, but it didn’t happen.

Midfield. Yacob doesn’t do ‘Friendly’. He managed to upset a couple of Rovers players and a lot of their fans with some assertive tackles. On another day he would have picked up a yellow. Morrison OK, Gardner took his goal well, but infuriated at times with his poor delivery. Mcclean pick of the bunch for me with his effort and crossing.

RL – Didn’t look too mobile, but his experience should see him in the right places at the right time to get his share of the goals. SB – For me he remains an Enigma. One minute chasing the width of the pitch to make a tackle, other times looked sulky and disinterested. Does he know if he wants to be here or not ?

Subs – too many to mention all, but Vic looked lively and took his goal well – has he realised he has competition to be the Big Front Man ? Ideye continues to baffle me – is a leader of the line ? Is he a poacher ? Is he 4th choice striker ?

Overall a decent performance, though largely played in a non-urgent, training mode with no-one wanting to get injured.
