AFC Wimbledon have signed Alistair Smith from Lincoln City after a successful loan spell last season.

The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Johnnie Jackson's side after helping the Wombles to promotion to League One last season.

Smith scored six goals in 54 appearances in all competitions and played the entire match as the Dons beat Walsall 1-0 in the League Two play-off final at Wembley last month.

"To finish it off with promotion at Wembley was unforgettable. I'm excited for the new season and ready to give everything to help keep the team and the club pushing forward."

Smith began his career with Mansfield Town before joining Sutton United in 2021, where he made 78 appearances and scored 14 goals.

He moved to the Imps in 2023, scoring once in 32 games.

AFC Wimbledon have signed full-back Steve Seddon for what will be his third spell at the club.

The 27-year-old had two previous loan spells in south London, in 2019 and 2020, and has now signed a one-year-deal for the upcoming campaign.

Seddon started his career at Birmingham City and has previously played for Oxford United and Burton Albion.

Across his previous two loan spells at the Dons, he made 37 appearances with eight goal contributions.

"I'm buzzing to be back," Seddon told the club website, external.

"It's a special club and I can't wait to get started. I have such good memories from my other spells here that it felt like the perfect time to come back.

"I'm also looking forward to playing at Plough Lane in front of our fans."

AFC Wimbledon midfielder Sam Hutchinson has signed a one-year contract extension less than two months after suffering a heart attack while playing for the club.

The 35-year-old played the entire match and scored the winner in the Wombles' 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town in May, despite experiencing the health issue in the sixth minute.

Hutchinson underwent surgery and missed the remainder of the season as Wimbledon went on to win the League Two play-off final against Walsall at Wembley.

The former Chelsea, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading player initially joined Johnnie Jackson's side on a one-month deal in December.

That contract was extended to the end of the season in January and he has made 18 appearances for the club.

"I'm delighted to sign again. From the moment I got here everyone has made me feel so welcome - it's a proper football club," Hutchinson told Wimbledon's website.

"A special thank you to everyone who has looked after me with what went on at the end of last year. I can't wait to just crack on now and have a great season."

Goalkeeper Joe McDonnell has returned to AFC Wimbledon on a two-year contract after five years away.

The 31-year-old rejoins the Dons on a free transfer from Eastleigh, where he made 230 appearances.

Owen Goodman, last season's number one between the sticks for Johnnie Jackson's side, returned to Crystal Palace at the end of his season-long loan.

The Wombles beat Walsall in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in May to seal promotion to the third tier.

McDonnell made 34 appearances for Wimbledon in six seasons with the club from 2014 to 2020.

The club have since moved to Plough Lane at the purpose-built Cherry Red Records Stadium, having previously played at Kingsmeadow during his first spell.

"As soon as this option came up I jumped at the chance," he told the club's website, external.

"To be part of Wimbledon again is a great opportunity. I'm yet to visit Plough Lane, so I'm excited for that experience – it's an incredible stage for the club.

"This is a club like no other because of the fans we have, I can't wait to see some familiar faces again."

Wimbledon begin the League One campaign away to Luton Town on Friday, 1 August.

AFC Wimbledon attacking midfielder Marcus Browne has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 27-year-old joined the Dons as a free agent in January and has scored three goals in 21 appearances.

Browne started and played 90 minutes before being replaced in added time as the Wombles beat Walsall at Wembley to earn promotion to League One via the play-offs.

"I'm really pleased to be staying here. It's a great club full of amazing people, great coaching staff and a great group of lads," he told the club website, external.

"It's going to be an exciting and eventful season. One which I'm really looking forward to."

Browne follows Ryan Johnson and Sam Hutchinson in committing his future to Wimbledon, while Steve Seddon and Joe McDonnell have re-signed for the club.

The Dons have also brought in Alistair Smith from Lincoln City on a permanent deal following his successful loan spell last season.

They begin the League One season away to Luton Town on Friday, 1 August, kick-off at 20:00 BST.

AFC Wimbledon have signed goalkeeper Nathan Bishop from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee and midfielder Delano McCoy-Splatt after his release by Fulham.

Former Manchester United stopper Bishop, 25, has signed a three-year contract with the newly-promoted League One club.

Wimbledon's regular number one last season Owen Goodman returned to parent club Crystal Palace after the completion of his season-long loan.

Joe McDonnell has since signed for a second stint with the club, and Bishop will now add further strength to Johnnie Jackson's squad.

"The manager, Bayzo [goalkeeper coach Ashley Bayes], the staff and players were a massive part of me joining this fantastic club," Bishop told Wimbledon's website, external.

"Then I heard about the fans - I am delighted to be here and cannot wait to give everything to the people who built this place brick by brick."
Bishop began his career with Southend United before moving to the Red Devils in 2020.

He spent time on loan at Mansfield Town before joining Sunderland in August 2023. He made two senior appearances for the Black Cats and spent three months on loan with Cambridge United last season.

"We are really pleased to get a goalkeeper of such quality with real experience, he's played for some big clubs so we know exactly what we are getting and as always Bayzo will get the best out of him," Jackson added.

"We are really happy with Nathan and Joe and the goalkeeping department we now have here."

McCoy-Splatt, 20, has agreed a two-year deal. He came through the youth ranks at Fulham and made two appearances in the EFL Trophy.

He made his international debut for Jamaica in 2023, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

Jackson said, external: "Delano is a really talented young player with a lot of potential. He's now our player, and someone we believe can develop with us, take his game to the next level, and be part of a successful team."

harlton Athletic defender Nathan Asiimwe has signed a new contract and joined AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan.

The full-back, 20, has signed a two-year deal with the Championship club, who have an option to extend the contract by a further year.

He will spend the coming season with the newly-promoted League One side, managed by former Charlton player and boss Johnnie Jackson.

Asiimwe ended last season on loan at Walsall and was part of the Saddlers side pipped to promotion by the Dons in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.

He also had a spell on loan at Hartlepool United last season and has made 28 appearances so far for Charlton's first team since graduating from their academy.

Asiimwe told AFC Wimbledon's website, external: "This was an attractive opportunity for me because I know the gaffer briefly from Charlton.

"This is a step up to a new level for not just me but Wimbledon too, so this is a natural progression for me.

"I like to be energetic down the flanks and help out in both boxes where possible. I know I can defend well but also support the attack with good deliveries into the box."

AFC Wimbledon have signed strikers Danilo Orsi and Antwoine Hackford on permanent deals and Charlton Athletic defender Nathan Asiimwe on a season-long loan.

Orsi arrives from rival League One side Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee having spent the second half of last season on loan at MK Dons.

The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year contract after scoring six league goals for the Brewers before netting a further three for Milton Keynes.

"This was something that I really wanted to happen in January, so to finally be here and pull on the blue shirt is something that makes me really happy," Orsi told the club website., external

Hackford, 21, has signed a two-year contract with AFC Wimbledon with the option of a further year after making the move on a free transfer.

He became Sheffield United's youngest-ever top-flight player when he made his debut at Crystal Palace in January 2021 aged 16 years and 288 days.

Hackford spent last season on loan at League Two Port Vale, scoring four times in 29 games.

He told AFC Wimbledon's website, external: "I've been at Sheffield United for 10 years, so now is the right time to change and I'm excited to get going here.

"The club has been interested in me for a while now, so when the offer came about I looked into the history and it really impressed me.

"I'm quick, I can pose a real threat and I'll score goals."
