Barrow have signed goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom on a free transfer from Premier League side Brentford.

Winterbottom, 23, never made a senior appearance for the Bees, but he spent last season on loan with AFC Fylde in the National League.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool academy player moves to the League Two side on a two-year contract with the option of a third year.

"Barrow mentioned they watched me a lot last year," he told the club's website, external.

"Then for them to reach out and be as positive and as keen as they have been was a real plus point for me."

Striker Emile Acquah is looking forward to "something different" after his "exciting move" to Dundee from Barrow for an undisclosed fee.

Barrow have signed defender Charlie Raglan from newly promoted League Two rivals Oldham, Lewis Shipley from Norwich and teenage winger Michael Adu-Poku on loan from Watford.

Raglan, 32, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at The SO Legal Stadium, which will see him link up with boss Andy Whing for a second time following a spell at Oxford United.

Defender Shipley has joined from Norwich City on a two year contract after being released by the Canaries at the end of last season.

The 21-year-old spent 2023-24 on loan at Accrington Stanley and played 10 games in another temporary spell, at Cheltenham Town, last season before being recalled by Norwich in January.

Watford youth product Adu-Poku, 19, has joined on loan until the end of the 2025-26 season. He played six National League games on loan for Rochdale last season, following a spell at Solihull Moors earlier in the campaign.

Barrow have signed former Lincoln City striker Tyler Walker on a one-year deal, with the option of a further year.

Walker will join the club on Tuesday, once his contract with the Imps has officially expired.

The 28-year-old only played eight games across his two seasons with Lincoln, while he had a loan spell last season in the National League with Wealdstone.

Prior to Lincoln, Walker, the son of former England defender Des, came through the ranks at Nottingham Forest before moving on to Coventry City.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to get going," he told the club's website, external.

Barrow have signed Gateshead midfielder Regan Booty for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old started his career with Huddersfield Town and made 80 National League appearances in two seasons with the Heed.

"I think it's always really nice when a manager and a group of staff are so keen to get you in the door," Booty told the club website., external

He could make his competitive debut for the Bluebirds in their League Two season-opener at Chesterfield on Saturday, 2 August.

Barrow have signed striker Kane Hemmings on a one-year contract.

Hemmings, 34, has been on trial with the League Two club, having been released by Crewe earlier this summer when his contract expired.

He began his senior career in Scotland at Rangers and has also had spells north of the border at Dundee and Cowdenbeath.

His career has also included stints at Barnsley, Notts County, his hometown club Burton, Tranmere, Stevenage and Oxford United.

Hemmings joined Crewe last summer after leaving Stevenage. He made 20 league appearances for the Railwaymen, scoring four goals.

Barrow have signed former Derby County winger Tom Barkhuizen on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old was a free agent after leaving the Rams earlier this summer after three seasons in the East Midlands.

Barkhuizen started his career with Blackpool and has also had spells with Morecambe and Preston.

"He's had a fantastic career to date at a higher level, and he's as ambitious as we are to help move the club forward," boss Andy Whing told the club website.
