Millwall have signed goalkeeper Joel Coleman on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old, who played in the Premier League for Huddersfield Town, has been signed on a free transfer, having spent the past two seasons at Bolton Wanderers.

The Lions have already signed keepers Steven Benda and Max Crocombe this summer and Coleman has been brought in to add further depth.

"Joel has played at every level, from the Premier League to League Two, and has also been involved in a Championship play-off final, so his experience is what we are looking for in him as well," said Millwall goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton.

"I've seen at previous clubs how undervalued the role that Joel has come into can be.

"He can come into training and drive standards as well as supporting Max and Steven. But also he brings some excitement to sessions and will keep the goalkeeping unit working really well."

The 6ft 5in Coleman is a product of Oldham Athletic's academy and began his career with the Latics before moving on to Huddersfield, Shrewsbury, Fleetwood, Rochdale, Ipswich and Bolton.

Millwall have signed centre-back Caleb Taylor from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a "long-term" contract at The Den.

The move follows Japhet Tanganga's departure to Sheffield United on Thursday.

Taylor made 36 League One appearances on back-to-back loans at Wycombe Wanderers last season, playing in both legs of the Chairboys' play-off semi-final defeat by Charlton Athletic.

"He was our number one target all summer with regards to a centre-back," Millwall director of football Steve Gallen told the club website, external.

"With Japhet's departure, we've had to speed this one up - he is 22 years old, good in the air and good on the ball.

"We hope he is someone we can help develop and move along with the football club."

Taylor came through the Baggies' academy before making his debut in the Carabao Cup against Arsenal in 2021-22.

He has spent time on loan at Cheltenham Town and Bolton Wanderers, as well as Wycombe.

Millwall have signed French midfielder Derek Mazou-Sacko from Ligue 2 side Rodez AF.

The 20-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee and signed a "long-term contract" at The Den.

Last season he made 31 appearances in the French second tier, scoring once, and is a former Under-18 international.

"He's a player we've tracked for some time and he fits the profile of the type of talent we want to bring into the club," director of football Steve Gallen told the club website., external

"Having played in France's second division he has shown qualities that have impressed me every time I've watched him.

"Derek is an exciting, progressive midfielder who is comfortable on the ball and has the ability to drive us forward."

Millwall have signed winger Thierno Ballo from Austrian side Wolfsberger and Southampton midfielder Will Smallbone on season-long loans.

Smallbone, 25, is a product of Saints' academy and has made 90 first team appearances for Southampton.

Ballo, 23, came through Bayer Leverkusen's youth system and later joined Chelsea where he continued his development.

After spending time on loan at Rapid Vienna he joined Wolfsberger on a permanent deal in 2022.

Millwall captain Jake Cooper has signed a new contract keeping him at the Championship side until the summer of 2027.

The 30-year-old centre-back has played 411 times and is two games away from becoming equal fifth on the Lions' list of all-time appearance-makers.

The former Reading player initially joined Millwall on loan in January 2017 before making the move permanent the following summer.

Millwall have signed Brighton and England U21 striker Tommy Watson and Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson on loan until the end of the season.

Watson, 19, was originally a product of the Sunderland academy making 24 appearances for the Black Cats.

He scored the last minute winner against Sheffield United in the Championship play off final at Wembley last May which took Sunderland to the top flight.

A move to Brighton for a fee of £10m followed last summer and he has made six appearances in the Premier League for the Seagulls this campaign.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Patterson boosts Alex Neil's goalkeeping options at The Den having also been a vital part of Sunderland's promotion push last season.

He kept 14 clean sheets in 45 matches for the Black Cats as they won promotion to the Premier League but has made just one appearance for the club this season.

Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen told the club website, external the Lions had fought off attentions of a number of clubs to land Watson.

"There were a lot of clubs in for him, but he decided to join us," said Gallen. "He's a good young player is who bright, versatile and full of energy, plus he is an England Under-21 international this season."

Speaking of Patterson, Gallen added: "He has big-game experience under his belt and he was ever-present for Sunderland last year. He will now link-up with the goalkeeping department and add competition with regards to a starting position.
