Never Felt More Like Singing the Blues - Part 2

Agreed shep, the way we've been wanting to play is admirable but there's a time and a place. The situation we're in now dictates that we need to eradicate the errors and focus on just putting the ball in the net. Leave the pretty patterns for the final third or when you are well ahead. Leeds did for a time, if that's the model we're following.

The style of football like I said is admirable and if we stay up and our chairlump backs the manager with the right signings then we can try again, because we've shown we can do it, it's just the silly mistakes, at times in the first half of the season we played some terrific stuff, as well as some horrific stuff. Now I accept there will be some off days, it happens. If we stay up we gotta make sure that if we are wanting to play the passing style, that we have the players to do so, long term, Stears, keogh, sarr, schindy ain't gonna be able to do that, maybe sarr with some propper work, which if everything goes back to some semblance of normality, it may be possible.

For now though, we've just gotta play for what we can, get goals, keep clean sheets, get as high up the table as possible.

But we were promised a new dynamic "Bielsa style" type of attacking football. Last night was like Warnock v Warnock.

If Phat head Phil wanted results based on just getting the job done, he should've stuck with the Cowleys. We haven't progressed at all this season. I'd say we've gone backwards.

Having said that, fewer injuries and better luck breeds confidence. And I'm pleased that Carlos has the sense to change things when it's not working.

But we were promised much more and better.

It was pretty dire, lets not sugar coat it.

On the one hand it was good point and on the other we now have 7points from a possible 39 since the turn of the year.

Performances don't count anymore, points on the board do

We've not quite gone backwards Snoots - we were one point better off before we kicked off. Oh hang on, we're now one point worse off. OK point taken.

All in all, while we were looking fine and dandy (ish) in December, it's all gone pear shaped since, and even now, the only thing that changed that I can put my finger on was the new contracts for "Careless and Co." just prior to this. It seemed to demotivate more than a few for some reason. That and a few injuries but a lot of our injuries are and have been happening on the "training field grass", not the McGalphsmiths or our opponents grass.
A guide to cask ale.
