Jason "in the limelight" again!
#1
It was curious watching Jason Cummings playing again in a high profile FA Cup tie, Shrewsbury Town v a "scratch" Liverpool side. Shrewsbury being "robbed" at the point when Jason came off the subs' bench at 0-2 and after one of the weirdest OGs I've ever seen from a Shrews player named Love!!! JC comes on and suddenly the game "turns on a sixpence" as goals are finally scored and the goal opps not scorned by the Shrews - 2-2 and the home team a "whisker" away from dispatching Liverpool out of this season's FA Cup. Of course, one huge positive factor is a return leg at a packed Annfield Stadium and Jason has already paid back the money (and more!) paid out to bring him in to the League 1 footie club - Club Chairman delighted!

0762, you are right about that own goal!! It seemed so nonchalant in terms of him playing the ball but you could see the shock on his face as it went straight into the net!!!

Jason's got bags of confidence and talent too but his workrate and application always let him down. If he could just 'screw the nut' who knows what he might have achieved ?

I've coached schools' teams in days gone by and, seriously, that level of OG I'd normally assign to a young primary school kid who is learning to play a game of footie - trying to control a ball, pass a ball accurately etc. I'd expect occasional mistakes like that but this lad, Love, is a pro player! There were so many ways that he could've dealt with that situ eh! I could easily have "brought the ball down on my toe" with a fine touch and whacked it away anywhere or just "skelped it" from the direction it came from and straight out the pitch. The incident was bizarre and that lad will never forget his error in his life time!

A natural goal scorer Jim! Rejected by Hertz, one of the reasons prob being a lack of commitment and dedication. Still a "maverick player" after all these years but not as bad as Stokesy, another one of our heroic Scottish Cup winners!

Cummings was anonymous in too many games for hibs, including the cup final whereas stokesy ran the huns ragged and worked his socks off. I doubt we would have won the cup without him.

Both of them were magnets for trouble though.
