Buchanan was interviewed last night. If he plays as well as he spoke he will do for me. Feet on the ground type of guy, spoke about the importance of getting involved in the local community, hospital and school visits etc. Sounds like he has been brought in for his experience. Probably next seasons captain.

I'd have thought Will Evans would be captain or Laurence Maguire.

Buchanan sounds a great ambassador, but we don't win many games visiting hospitals ……. But if he can do a job on the field then his attitude and experience could be a huge asset.

I think we are all agreed that the only way for Levi Amantchi, or any young player, to succeed in the first team is to give him some games.

Like Saltergate I support the idea of a Development Squad but Like him I believe that once a player has shown he has reached the threshold of a regular place in the team then you are never going to know how he will fare until he has a few games behind him. When you deny players a chance or limit them to very brief cameos as sub' they sometimes go backwards (like Ricky German?). And at that point management all too often congratulates itself on its self-proving philosophy - "we didn't think he was quite good enough and now that he's stopped improving, that'll free up another contract."
