So we are back under way after a summer WC and shortened transfer window. The Premier League is now 11 strong with Beefy and Lord Snooty joint last seasons survivors.
This week was certainly a story of the use of your balls!!! There were plenty of correct results and score flying around but nearly everyone failed to score points on their balls and at the end of the day this made all the difference in the scoring. In first place this week was Worldclass, a very consistent performance and a correct result Gamball propelled him to 14 points. Right behind him was Matt, again showing good consistency only to be let down in the end by an incorrect Gamball. In 3rd was last seasons Champion, DD, who actually failed to gain any points on half the games, but a correct Gamball and maximum points from his score ball game gave him a respectable score in the end. Derby, Beefy, Zinman and SCO were the next 4, all scored ok unless it had a ball attached so ended up middle of the pack. Sanjay, BBB and Snooty didn’t get much right at all and all got both the Gamball and BB wrong, losing valuable points. Bringing up the rear was Amelia who ended up with a negative total getting 9 of her 10 predictions wrong, bit like Wednesday and The Albion, but as the monstrous one would say its a marathon, not a sprint!!!
Cheers

So here we go again.....I'm referring to the Prediction League not Albion's start to the season. We welcome 3 new entrants this year having sadly lost The Vicar and Salop (no, they haven't died - as far as I know - just have better things to do than spend hours studying form only to be let down by a dodgy refereeing decision or Hal Robson-******* Kanu) and they all started off with solid performances. The bonus ball let most people down, only 2 players gaining points from it with the rest let down by Albion, Blues or Walsall.
So, sprinting* into the lead in the first week is Themacclad with an impressive 19 points, 5 correct result predictions and very good ball playing with positive returns from all 3. Second place goes to one of our more experienced predictors, Bomber, who led the field in the correct score chart with 3. Turkeydinner also started well despite having some early ball issues - good job you put the gamball on the wrong match!
Twerton and Joker had steady starts to their efforts to get back to the big league, seemingly adjusting to life in the lower league more quickly than a certain football team. Our third newcomer, Spireitematt was close behind and sits in a respectable mid table position.
The bottom 4 this week all lost out on both their bonus and gamballs. 4eva did at least get 4 predictions right, Stairs only got 3 but 2 of them were correct scores. Having just missed out on promotion last season, Baggieone got off to a slow start but was kept off the bottom by Quantum who at least avoided the embarrassment of a negative point start.
*As we will no doubt hear from someone....it's a marathon not a sprint.

No write up for tables this week as they are what they are with SCO & Zin write ups, and I'm on my holidays so you're lucky to be getting this
