I really hope Jack is given time but If we are in the bottom 2 come the end of March could he be relieved of his duties ? Nobody is unsackable and the retaining of league status is paramount .If in the unlikely event new owners come in will they want their own man anyway ?.

He won't be sacked because he's signed a 3 year deal. We can't keep sacking managers Blue. Since Cook left we've had 4 managers. That's 4 managers since 2015. In football its not always the manager but the players and when a team is playing poorly or badly then the players need to hold their hands up and take responsibility.

Blue that's the reason I didn't want him to take the job yet. He could be / could have been one of our best managers ever but he's got a real uphill battle. For me it was 12 months too early for him but I hope to god I was wrong.

Didn't you say we couldn't sack Caldwell Matt ?.
At the end of the day its about what it would cost to stay in the League ,now as I've said many times before there's no point in sacking a manager if the one you bring in doesn't improve things .Now its plain to see Jack has improved on GC (who couldnt ?) but has he improved us enough to stave off relegation ? the next 6 weeks will tell us a lot .Will the board decide to pull the trigger on Jack and try for someone short term to save us in the last month or so ?
One of the most important parts of a managers role is his ability to recruit well and its too early to judge the 5/6 he has brought in .I still hope he can bring one or two more in before Thursday .I am surprised the likes of Degirolamo and Dimaio are still here seeing as they are not getting any game time.

Under Caldwell we won 3 out of 26 I think it was. To be fair I'm surprised he lasted that long because at any other club he would have been sacked long before. Jack has turned us around and got us out the relegation zone and we aren't conceding 4 or 5 games a game. I believe he will keep us up in L2 as I think there are teams above and below us who are worse than us. A win yesterday against Stevenage would have helped us but that's in the past now and you can't cry over spilt milk so got to move forward to the next game and hope we get 3pts.
If we get relegated Blue, it won't be Jack's fault because he hasn't been given a full season nor was this his squad. I still don't think Wilson should have been sacked but he was.
Jack understands it because he played for us and he understands the supporters and there frustrations and you can tell that in his post-match interviews after we've loss, you can see he's hurting and he's disappointed and frustrated. Whereas managers in the past just shrugged it off.
Dancing you say you didn't want him to take the job because he wasn't ready but would he have ever been ready? Football managers at any club will always get thrown in at the deep end. Also him learning his trade at Chesterfield will help at other clubs when he moves on because he will have learnt things to take to his next club and so forth.

Matt, problem is he took on a poisoned chalice. A team of misfits who's collective soul had been ripped out by bad management. If we go down he will probably be gone because he has been given money to spend and has brought in at least 5 of his own signings. Injuries haven't helped but that's football. A relegation on your cv with your first job in pro football isn't good for anyone.
I personally would stick with him no matter what happens. I just hope he has learned from his mistakes like yesterday and we get the results we need. Problem is if we don't get a result next Sat the pressure will really be on. We are running out of games.

16 games left. Need about 6/7 wins to stay up. If we go down then he should stay on as manager in the conference. Yesterday results in other games went in our favour but we can't just rely on them.

I don't think anybody ever has taken on a Chesterfield side in a worse state that Jack took over. If Caldwell were a doctor the GMC would meeting to strike him off. He was trying, but he clearly couldn't diagnose problems or suggest remedies. His one answer was rearranging the beds in Intensive Care.
Bob's Board has palpitations when we win and looks for a new left back every time we lose. No one has yet explained why left back is quite so crucial and if it is why a genuine nutter like Jones could do so well for us there.
We haven't as yet made any real investment in new players, we're just replacing contracts. I think that means Jack is tasked with saving us on the cheap. That might work if the team were just performing below expectations, but this is a genuinely bad team for which any win is a small miracle.
If we go down only a very stupid club would consider sacking Jack Lester. But if we were on Dragon's Den Peter Jones would quickly drill down into our last three years and discover we are an almost uniquely stupid club. We kind of assume we should beat Stevenage, but they have better players than us. Earlier this month they sold Harry Beautyman, who wasn't getting into their team, to Sutton Utd. He was immediately MOM in the Vanarama. He would be in OUR midfield every week. We treated one hero like shit when we sacked Danny Wilson, the danger for Jack is he has been given such a dreadful job we might be wrecking his managerial career before it gets off the ground.
