All-time League Placings to 2016-17

Albion remain in 11th position, and will probably never move from 11th in my lifetime.

No consideration is given to points accumulated, games won, or goals scored.
Based purely on League position since The Football League's.
inauguration (1888) these are the top 40 Clubs.

The League champions are awarded 92 League pts,
whilst the bottom team in League 2 are awarded 1 League point.

(Between 1924 and 1950, there were only 88 Clubs in the League,
and so the League champions gained 88 League pts.
Between 1888 (12 Clubs) and 1923 (86 Clubs) there were varying
nos of League members. The Champs get 12 pts (for example) for
winning the 1888-89 season,
When there were 2 Division 3s (North & South), the winners would have
each received 49 pts, whilst the runners-up both got 47.)

Praise God that Pulis wasn't in charge when we reached 40 points or we'd probably still be down there.

Does this include this season's figures. If this most recent of seasons placing were repeated every year it would take us 31.69 seasons to match the viles placing ( points ) .... how depressing. They are currently 729 above us .... margin this year of 23.

Although in recent history teams have bounced straight back up or struggled for years ...... vile failed to return ..... less finances, less attractive to top players ....... Hope their slide increases in pace. Drop two divisions or 48 places and we would match them in a little over ten years.. In an ideal world vile would do the decent thing and get relegated in 23rd place next year followed by 22nd the year after and nine seasons of twelfth place in league 2 would require us to have 11 eighth placed finishes to match them in 11 years.

I know, to much time on my hands, early retirement does that to you ......

I started compiling that League a few years ago now just out of interest because I thought Wo1ve5 fans were getting a bit too cocky that we were in their shadow, if you like. But, apart from their golden era in the 50s, they've never really been a great force.
If by some miracle roles reversed, they would need to be a full 20 positions above us for the next 20 years before they could justify looking down on little Albion.
