I agree drewks, but my point was that if Saido does get snapped up it will be for £20m+, and I would rather we invest £10-15m in a proven striker with a good goal-scoring record to replace him than take a gamble on an unknown paying off.

Still thinks he needs to improve at the moment.

Currently think, In an ideal world, he would be back up (Or play alongside) a Bony or Gomis / Lukaku / Riviere or Cisse / Benteke etc - all strikers of teams that are in and around us.

Wander how many of you would honestly take Berahino over any of them?

I consider him to be the equivalent of Morrison in the Midfield role at the moment. He will definetly do a job up there, and he has his strong points (think he is an excellent finisher - not just from the video and also his hold up play as the lone front man has been very good for a guy of his stature) but I think his movement / positioning off the ball needs to improve, and his physical side (i'd like to see him a bit fitter and sharper) needs to improve.

As I say similar to Morrison, CURRENTLY, a useful player to have - but needs to keep improving (which he can do due to his age) before he's one of the first on the team sheet - which at the moment he is due to our other options being injured, or fairly average.

Don't want to seem too negative, he's a tidy little player, But I think he needs an extra 5 or 10 % improvement in my eyes.

Agree Luke - but the big clubs will see a 21 year old English striker who is currently the top scoring English player in the PL and is being massively hyped up (possibly over-hyped) due to the fact that he is English, and that is why they will throw money at him. Apparently we are set to offer him a 5 year £40k+ a week contract which is probably too much but will add £5-10m on to his value if he signs it.

I would have anticipated (and still hope) that Ideye can become the main striker in the mould of a Benteke/Bony and Berahino can rotate or be an impact sub to gain experience and have less pressure on him - although he seems to be the type who thrives on pressure with his confident penalty taking.

I'd happily take him over Riviere and Cisse put together. One's done nothing so far, the other's never regained the form he showed in 2012.

I would like to see him stay and contribute to the Ska'd top scorers of all time chart. He could do that with 3-4 seasons service at the club.

But we all know that if he scores 5 more goals before January.

It won't matter what contact has been signed. One of the cash rich clubs will offer enough to make it impossible for us to keep him, want to keep him and turn his head.

Let's hope the researchers are looking at potential replacements.
