20 Points. A positive goal difference. Only 7 more wins needed. Never had this luxury before.

Not that I'm absolving Pulis for some of the worse performances and results we've had, but I do wonder how it is that there's such a gulf between how our fans view him compared to Roy Hodgson; who, let's be honest, employed much the same approach to the majority of games.  I suspect the major differences are simply that a) we have a negative history with Pulis due to his Stoke years, and b) Hodgson as a man comes across as a likeable, old-fashioned gent - the sort of bloke you're proud to have representing your club in the media - whereas Pulis, as this week's court verdict illustrated, just doesn't have that same honourable exterior.

How much you personally like someone really shouldn't matter in football management as long as they're getting the results (and ideally bringing the performances to match), and at the moment, with a good few pints in me, I think Pulis has earned some renewed faith from us.  But I'm still not sure that the fanbase as a whole will ever really warm to him.  And so the good work he's done here will probably only really sink in once he's gone, and someone far less competent is at the helm.

Couldn't have put it better myself Ska'd. I've never really been fond of Pulis and that's solely because he always beat us when at Stoke. We've had several poor performances (particularly Villa and Southampton at home last season, Stoke away also to an extent) but we've equally had some very impressive results - our current run included.

He must only leave when there is a well thought out and planned transition to another manager who must be an improvement on what we have. For now he's certainly earned renewed faith and I'm really looking forward to Chelsea away despite having to get up earlier on that Sunday than I do for work!  Laugh

We rode our luck massively yesterday though - I don't think Watford played that well but 3-1 flattered us a bit. Phillips, McAuley, Evans, Nyom & Yacob all had fantastic games, and a special mention to Foster for a world class save to prevent the OG and what would have been a turning point in the game.

Nyom celebrating infront of the Watford fans on the third goal made my day though, their fans general reaction on Twitter was quite funny to read as well. Obviously like Sunderland fans when they were giving McClean stick, they can dish it out but not take it back  Big Grin

The only real difference between how we were playing a month ago, and how we're playing now (not that we were good yesterday - more like moderate) is that we're getting M&B linking defence to attack, and Phillips is starting to look worth £10m (today's market) rather than the £4m we actually paid.
I might be talking saft, but I wouldn't be surprised if the new Owner hadn't had a word with Williams/Jenkins and asked them to remind Pulis that he likes to be entertained when he travels 1/2 way round the world, and that there's more than just the one way of keeping Little Old Albion in 17th spot every year. The more adventurous style has coincided with M&B's selection, but 2 months ago he might have played Brunt (when recovered) and McClean in a deep 4 in front of the back 4, and Morrison wouldn't have made the bench.
Pulis has realised he can't upset his Seniors for much longer, and said:
"Bollocks to it: I'll get them to practise "Attacking Corners" as well as "Defending Corners". They were right - I was never wrong, but if I can get another couple of £Million in the old Pension Fund......."

One more positive comment: The ladies won yesterday in the cup. Well done the curves.

We were tremendous against Watford, in my opinion, and thoroughly deserved the win.  Down my many years of supporting the Baggies, I've seen many of our lovely footballing sides roll over to teams like Watford, who arrived, cherishing their position at the top of the disciplinary bad boys table and determined to enforce themselves upon us.  Well, they got enforced upon and, boy, they didn't like it!  No longer are we the soft touch and I thought every Albion player fully committed themselves. I had to smile at Yacob, at one point in the midst of three Watford blokes, really revelling in the skirmish and when McClean comes on, you know the fur's going to fly.  Glad he's our man or I'd hate him!  There were some tremendous performances and I would struggle to pick one Albion man out as the best.   We should have been further in front by the time they scored.  Shame for old Ben, making that wonder save from GMac only for the Hornets to score from the resulting corner.  His save hardly changed the course of the game.
The lads deserve better support but, unfortunately, Albion's support has always been fickle.  It disappoints and saddens me.  Oh, for the support they get at the Custard Bowl considering what they have to put up with.  We'd be looking at 12-13,000 with Dingles' record or, if the Wolves had what we have, they'd be looking for extra capacity!

Wolves fans are much more fickle than Albion fans. During the worst days of Kenny Jackett's reign, there were reports of Wolves fans fighting among themselves in the South Bank and in the car park. ?

Also, why did James McClean smack the ball into Peyrera who got sent off? Just hotheaded stupidity or had Peyrera been fouling McClean all the time he was on the pitch?

No! McLean had only just come on. A more efficious Ref might have took the opportunity to send Mac off for 'ungentlemanly'.

We were getting bullied all over the pitch by Watford at the time and McClean came on to even things out. Peyreyra was still on his feet and falling over as McClean struck the ball, so everyone leaps to the conclusion because it was McClean that he drilled it at him on purpose, when in fact he could have also been trying to pass the ball back to either Nyom who was on that side of the pitch or even further back to Foster so we could retain possession to help protect our 2-1 lead. Or maybe even just win the throw in off of him and retain the ball. No law against doing that.

Peyreyra overreacted and got himself sent off, Deeney also was lucky not to have been carded for his reaction. http://lasthl.com/bbc-match-day-week-14-...full-show/ link for those who want to watch the MOTD highlights again. Incident in question starts around 1:10:30.

My two penneth is that the game was going to bubble over into an incident like that as the ref had an absolute shocker. Plenty of wrong decisions for both us and Watford.

Yeah, my instinct is that he was playing the ball off him to win the throw-in, although McClean being McClean, I think he did it a bit harder than was strictly necessary to make a point, too. Watford had been trying to get under the skin of our players all match, so they can't get too precious about it.
