As I enjoy a chuckle on a cold Monday night, I've hunted down that thread about this match on Mol Mix. Ah, it's great reading.

On the subject of Rondon, it's been interesting to see his style of play these last few games now that he's been essentially handed an entirely new role in a side which is playing more expansively. Previously he was expected to do the job of a target man a la Fortune or Anichebe, with his back to goal, the ball dropping down from the stratosphere and rarely any willing runners to lay it off to even if he managed to win it. No surprises that he was poor at it, because that's clearly not his game.
If the last few matches are a reliable indicator, he seems like a Lukaku-style battering ram of a forward. Slip him a through-ball, give him a straight foot race with a defender and he's got the pace and strength to cause problems. Perhaps lacks the creative ability Lukaku had of dropping deep and conjuring something from nothing, and maybe needs to be more clinical with half-chances, but that could potentially improve as his confidence grows. I'm trying not to get too carried away (after all, it hasn't been that long since the Second Coming of Brown Ideye), but at the moment it does feel like we've got a whole new signing... and this one won't be off to Everton in six months' time. Really hope he can go from strength to strength here, because it feels like ages since we've had a goalscorer who's genuinely loved by the fans. Works wonders for the atmosphere when we've got a cult hero to rally behind. He certainly looks like a different player lately, quick strong and quite agile and goals will bring confidence. I still think as I mentioned way back in the season that berahino was a very big spanner in the works with his bolshy attitude. I think TP had little choice but to focus heavily on defending because of the berahino fiasco. Our one proven goalscorer from last season had pretty much turned his back on us. Rondon wasn't adjusting to prem football in the position of lone striker. Anichebe simply doesn't score more than one in a blue moon and Lambert well what can you say there? Its no wonder we focused on set pieces and our big defenders doing the scoring from them. Since Berahino sorted his brain out we've started to look more of a threat going forward and the berahino rondon combi is coming good and that means we are starting to play with a bit more attacking purpose. It would be interesting to see Morrison back in the squad as I think he is one of our more creative midfielders with a goal or two in him. Did anyone hear Morrison telling SS presenter that Berahino had apologised and bought the team dinner at xmas? Sounds like he's done a bit of growing up and in the nick of time to. Here's hoping we can put another 10/12 pts on the board and maybe a record finish COYB :-) Interesting to note that all the sports news could focus on was mata's red card btw. Instead of a pretty damn fine performance by us which I think was better when we were 11v11 actually
