Agree with this. I rate McAuley as the best defender I've seen at the Baggies in my lifetime.

The guy is just an out and out defender. Strong, positionally solid and heads everything that moves. Hugely important for defending corners - and when he's missing, we almost always look like conceding from them. Man City game is a case in point.

Obviously at 35, his time is coming to an end... But until his form starts to fade, he'd be the first name on the team sheet for me.

Wales defender James Chester is set to miss Thursday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Cyprus with a hamstring injury.

The West Bromwich Albion centre-back could return in time for Sunday's match with Israel in Cardiff.

Could explain why not on bench. DD  Whistle Whistle

Letting his prejudice loose without knowing the facts, always a bad idea

Think I read that Chester will be fit for the Isreal game which I am going to watch as I haven't seen enough of Chester yet to give an opinion.
Played out of position at LB against vale and looked like a fish out of water.
Wasn't great against Man City at RB but was up against class opposition and to be fair none of the defence covered themselves in glory.
Hull fans really rated him and if Wales beat Isreal he will be playing for the 2nd best team in the world on FIFA rankings !!!
Fingers crossed he settles in but still think he will be battling with Dawson for RB place.
