Sheff Utd vs WBA - Match Thread

I thought today's performance was the best away performance for some time, especially when you consider how squad bare we are.

Don't get me wrong, we were not particularly easy on the eye, but we never are.

But if we are going to be poor to watch, which we have been all season, we need to be more effective than we have been...

I think we managed that today. We did a good job stifling them and we actually carried a threat on the counter.

On the balance of chances, we probably deserved a bit more. The goal we conceded was poor, but Sheffield didn't pose a massive threat otherwise.

Fair play to Mozza for picking something more industrial. With 2 up top, it actually gave the opposition something to think about.

As well as that, I thought Diakite had the best game I've seen him have. Price was the best I've seen him for months and looks a lot more suited to that position than when he plays in the 10. He's clearly not a good enough footballer to pick up the ball and turn in the hole, but he was decent today.

Had we played like that against some of the lesser opposition, we probably wouldn't be in this mess.

I still don't think we'll get out of it. The quality just isn't there with the injuries. But it was absolutely an improvement.

I think we should play Campbell up top as he clearly knows where the net is. I mean, he doesn’t care which net as long as it’s a net Smile

I seem to recall Chris Nicholl scoring all 4 in a 2-2 draw for the Vile must have been mid 70's.

Half a league downward,
All in the Stadium of Kassam

"Forward the Shite Brigade!
Charge for the goal!"
In the Stadium of Kassam,
That woeful shithole.

Was there a man dismayed?
Swiftly they countered.
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to fracture a thigh.
In the Stadium of Kassam
The Baggies floundered.

Oxen to right of them,
Oxen to left of them,
Oxen in front of them
Volleyed and headed;
Stormed at with shot and pass,
Badly they played, alas
Weapons-grade laughing gas
Couldn't dull what we dreaded.

Now they must charge again,
To thankless Bramall Lane
There to perform like drains,
Damn how it might be played.
Make now an orison
To Cyrille and Laurie, son
For big James Morrison:
And forward the Shite Brigade!

Subtle changes of wording...excellent.

,I agree with that...sometimes defenders offer more muscle being used to defend, so could make a good bustling forward..

How often do we see a player scoring at both ends.. not many I'd think.

As to the match I say well done lads. You showed fight in coming back from 1-0...that's what we want to see. Guts and determination to not lose at all costs...it surprised me...well done Mozza.

An excellent result. Pat on the back to the lads today. Coming back from a goal down to the form team away from home deserves merit.
Mozza great job getting the guys focused.
I would have taken a draw against the blades all day long
A couple of wins needed now.
