I am more positive about the next few years than I have been for many years and many managers

Really surpised that there are THAT many neutrals - the facts don't lie! It goes to show that many people had really made up their minds about TP before, because of his Stoke days no doubt. What has the team got to do to convert them - win the last 5 games by a landslide?
Ah well - maybe in a few weeks they'll be almost forced to change their minds!

As has been said before, this is TP operating with a squad he'd been left with, with just 2 additions. I have absolutely no axe to grind with AI but this does show that he was simply out of his depth; it also shows that TP is a very good manager/HC, surely? Thumb up

I'm conservatively neutral at the moment.
TP has been in charge for a handful of very winnable games. If you disregard the Cup matches (all at Home) we've

P7 W2 D4 L1

But, imo, we should have set out to WIN games like Everton, Burnley, and Sunderland Away. OK we picked up 3pts and stopped them picking up 3pts, but we might easily have picked up 4 and possibly 6. Saturday's performance was no better than Irvine's team. I take it we're going to park the bus for the Villa game - I'd go all out for 3pts instead of worrying that a very poor Villa team MIGHT win. (Perhaps he'll go all out for a win, but I doubt it.)

I'm not knocking Pulis at all - in fact I feel very confident - but things can soon go sour, and I just hope we don't regret not going for wins against the poor teams. He's not the Messiah just yet, and the 10% Neutral doesn't surprise me.

Why should we disregard the cup games? Winning away at Birmingham and destroying West Ham at home shouldn't be ignored.

Very true, Harry.
I'm not putting a dampener on what he's done, because at Christmas I asked Santa to have us 14th by now, and we looked like we WOULD have been bumping along the bottom without TP.

The good things he's done is bring a bit of much-needed spirit to the Club. But.......
those 7 games are as easy as you could expect to get - and he's lucky in that respect. But we've got to get the points on board as the last 5 games we'll be lucky to pick up 3 or 4, while those others at the bottom will be fighting for their lives. I just hope we don't regret giving it a better go on those easier games.

I think we'll set up exactly the same as we have for Everton and Sunderland at the vile in the league match, nick a point and keep the gap the same , whatever it is after the weekend.

5 points is a healthy advantage, plus another for our goal difference, that's 2 wins from two of the bottom four at the moment to overhaul us. I'd sooner effectively deny Villa 3 of those points by setting up for another grinding out a 0-0.

I think the big difference is that TP has the tactical nouse to play that way, but unlike AI had a plan B, like at Burnley.

While we pick up a point here and there, they're like gold dust when others below are losing, on February we were level on points with the vile and 3 points above the bottom 3.

Where I am hopeful is the cup match where I think we will set up totally differently, it's a one off with a huge reward, will they really be up for it that much if they're still in the bottom 3 with a big league game against Sunderland the week after.

So I'll settle for a dour 0-0 in the league and a win in the cup, and I'd take another point Saturday if it comes to it.
