The '5,000' Clubs
#1
Have I missed something?
Blackburn celebrated their 5,000th Football League match the weekend, so I asked my brother how many had Albion accumulated, 'cos I've heard no mention.

Interestingly, only 6 have made the 5,000 - so get your brains going (without looking it up!)
A lot depends on early inclusion, but also on playing 46 matches p.a. instead of 38.

I'll tell you the 6 later.

I know we are one of them (though don't remember any celebrations when we got there).
I imagine most were founder members of the league. Notts County? Vile?

PNE (5150) Burnley (5067) Wolves (5049) Derby (5045) Bolton (5023) and Albion (5008) + Blackburn (5000).

(So I'm told)

It seems our 5,000th must have been when Sheffield United beat us at Bramall Lane in April. They'll join the club themselves around Christmas, as will Wednesday towards the end of the season and Notts County this time next month. (County would, incidentally, have been right up there with PNE for the most ever played if they hadn't spent a few years in the Conference recently).

I may be being a little picky but of the six teams you say have made the 5000 club there are in fact seven unless I've miss counted. We were six and Blackburn are seven unless they are sixA.
Being picky I guess but still a great pub quiz question until someone else joins and not one Man City and co can buy their way in to.
Real clubs with real history not based on mercenaries money.

I read the original post as him asking us to name the other six on top of Blackburn, who he'd already named.
