I've just heard that a lady has died, from one of our churches, who was the last person I knew who was alive when WBA won the league in 1920/21. (She was 104)
It's getting harder to find folk who were around when we won the cup and got promotion in 1931, though there are some (including my mum).
Sad to lose those links. Would make it better if we had any remote chance of winning anything these days.
Sad

BV,
I was barely alive the last time we win a major trophy, a cup, not the division two title in 2008, and I am 57 next week. I was just shy of 21 months when "THE KING" scored in every round to defeat Everton at Wembley.
I can not see any team outside the FA's elite gentleman's club winning any trophies, occasionally you get a fluke, a Blues, a Wigan or a Leicester but other than them who has won anything since the greed league bias began.
When things are set up so that so few can compete it is no longer a competition. Having 57 subs on the bench, allowing nine changes, who benefits from that, not Walsall, not Salford. Teams with the financial clout to pack their squads with international players that can not normally get in their first team. Players that are happy to take the pay without the play.
