The new season is nearly upon us so it's time to turn your thoughts to the All New 2023/24 Prediction League!

When I say "All New' what I really mean is "Slightly Changed" but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

So, after some detailed statistical analysis of last season's scores, we are making some alterations to this season's scoring (which means I've got 2 weeks to change and check my spreadsheet) but we're keeping those lovely balls. For 2023/24 the scoring system will be:

Gamball - still optional - Correct Score 8 pts; Correct Result 4pts; Incorrect result -1pt.
Bonus Ball - compulsory - Correct Score 6pts; Correct Result 3pts; Incorrect Result -3pts
Other Games - Correct Score 4pts; Correct Result 2pts; Incorrect Result 0pts.
Score Ball - compulsory - Both teams score 1pt; Neither team scores (0-0) -1pt.

Leagues:
Premier - Derby, Minizin, Zinman, Stairs, Blue Baggie, Dingle Dingle, Lady Jane, BBB.
Championship - Sanjay, SCO, Snooty, BaggieOne, AAA, Themaclad, Twerton, Amelia.

I know there are several of you out there who frequent this board but don't participate in this fun contest - please consider joining in, I promise we'll be gentle with you! If we do get any new players we may juggle the divisions to get equal numbers.

Nice to see a more sensible format to the scoring.

However - a point - you say  'If we do get any new players we may juggle the divisions to get equal numbers' - this i disagree with, as it makes it a mockery of why we all want to stay in the Prem League and fight for our places if you just allow new players - which I'd welcome - to not join the 2nd teir and the players, and they all play for places in the Prem league. It doesn't make sense.

We are not suggesting a new player will go into the PL but if we got say three new players, we would likely promote whoever finished next outside the promotion places in last years championship and add the three new players to the Championship to even out the division numbers.

Not meaning to have a go, i'm saying all new players should play in Championship WITH the players that are already there - not take next when he hasn't won the right up to Prem. I'm saying if that could happen each year than there is no point in the promotion relegation. Hope u  see my point, as I say I'm not having a go just my point of view.  I had yo play 2 players to get promoted. Nuf said.
