Both six yard boxes were in perfect Nick !!!. A wee team like Accies managed to perfectly perform the exercise of clearing their pitch after a significantly heavier fall of snow.

Now that I agree with and was a question that should have been asked!! Of course if the snow is falling during the game there is no chance to clear it until half time but at least start with a clean pitch. Not sure when the snow fell, I think it was during the game but I stand to be corrected. Point is the ref said an hour before kick off that the pitch was playable and the playing the game would be fine and once he is in the ground it becomes his decision and nobody elses.

SCO, The pitch was cleared initially up til an hour or so before the match but the snow kept coming down. The ref decided it was fine to play on and that the under soil heating would help clear it during the match. The under soil heating was in fact on but there was too much snow on the surface for it to make any real difference, ineffective as it usually is on surface snow anyway, and the forecast they received at the match was that more snow was on the way, which is why the game was eventually abandoned.

As I said, once the ref declared the conditions ok, the only one who could change this was him, neither club would have any say!! Its also the refs decision if the pitch is to be cleared before the kick off but it can't be done during the game. You can play on a frozen pitch to a point, but playing on a snow covered pitch with more snow falling is impossible!! It only takes a couple of inches to make the game a farce and to be a danger to both sets of players!! I don't really see what more could have been done by the club!
