I'd be disappointed to see O'Shea playing at full back. I think there are better full backs than him (definitely not Furlong) but, more importantly for me, he's a potentially outstanding centre back and, in my view, should be the first name on the team sheet for that position. To play him at full back seems a huge waste of his talent.
I feel the same way about TGH, obviously not as a centre back but I see him as a really energetic, driving midfielder; let's face it, we really do need one of those. I think he has shown a maturity in his play well beyond his years and his experience. Like Slick, I'm not sure what full backs we have in the academy but I can't believe they are not there and able to step up.
In the absence of any really meaningful investment from the owner, we have a great opportunity to bring through these talented youngsters, not just into the squad but actually into the first team. I hope Bruce recognises the talent he has at his disposal and does not squander our meagre resources on "experienced heads" aka "past it old farts who he's worked with in previous clubs".
