Pathetic performance.
Garbage up top. Garbage at the back. Garbage in the middle.
The players must be getting coached to get rid of it within seconds, surely. There were so many opportunities for us to put our foot on the ball and take a bit of care with the pass to counter with quality to go 2 goals up. Instead we seemed to rush into a first time punt to nobody. I know we don't have many proper 'footballers' at the club, but even so, it seems that players who could at least pass the ball to a reasonable level under previous regimes no longer even consider putting their foot on the ball.
Snodgrass came on and put his foot on the ball, so I can see why he's not been figuring...
We're desperately crying out for a proper striker who can get hold of the ball and bring others into play. Dare I say it, someone like Diagne we had here last season. The amount of times Robbo, Phillips and Grant fail to take in a simple ball is criminal really. Fair enough, they don't get much to feed on with our tactic generally being just hoof it anywhere. But when it does drop to them they just give back time and time again.
At the back, we are an absolute shambles. Every ball over the top looks like we're going to concede. Teams have clocked onto our high line and we look vulnerable every game.
As for Bartley's "tackle" for the goal, what a joke.
Furlong's cock up for the goal will be noted, but he didn't pass to a teammate all night. How long can we continue to play a player on the basis he can launch a good throw in? He's been a weak link since the Bilic era and the fact we don't have another option in this position is criminal. He works hard, but he's never a Championship player. So bad on the ball.
Honestly just sick of watching us at the moment. The "football" is absolute drivel.
That was the Stoke game all over again. We were just 'waiting' to be beaten with no plan B. With the exception of the first minute, where we played on the front foot, never did we look like we believed we could win.
I said at the weekend that fans will put up with this dross if the results come. Unfortunately, based on the past 5-6 weeks, I can't see that. We're just not in games.
We're going to finish mid table with football that is on a par with what Tony Pulis served up.
But you get what you deserve and we really scraped the barrel with our signings in the summer. Giving extended contracts to dross and simply getting hold of anyone we could for free like Hugill and Reach. Got big money for Pereira and didn't even get a loan in to replace him.

Slick, I agree with you, it makes you wonder why we actually put any players in midfield. There is a desperate lack of creativity and, surprisingly, a lack of genuine pace. We have to hope Grady comes good but he cannot be the sole solution. I see that Robbie Brady has gone to Bournemouth; accepting he’s probably past his best, nevertheless there’s a player with skill and creativity. I’m not saying he would have been a replacement for Pereira but he would have brought another dimension to our play. Right now we have only one dimension and it’s not working
