Airdrie not AirBNB for McKay

McKay joins Airdrie on loan for the rest of the season.

Well, thank a four-letter word for that.

Airdrie seem pleased to have him back :-

We are pleased to announce the return of striker Jack McKay, who joins Airdrie for a second loan spell after playing for the Diamonds in 2017.

The 6’2” frontman previously made 15 appearances on loan from Leeds United, playing a part in the superb run of form which took the club to the promotion play-offs.

Jack - now 24 - subsequently moved on from Elland Road, with a spell at Cardiff City before joining current club Chesterfield in 2019.

Jack’s return on loan marks another reunion with Diamonds midfielder Paul, who is of course his twin brother. The pair have played together at Doncaster Rovers, Leeds and Cardiff.

Director of Football Stuart Millar was pleased to add a further striking option to the squad.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Jack to the club when we’re able to resume training, and we hope to see him making an impact in the latter part of the season.”

They sound happy and am sure we are. Maybe Airdrie play with a haggis because in my book Jack McKay is no footballer. Must admit I didnt know he had been there before or he was a twin.

I'm never 100% sure somebody can't play. Sometimes environment, ways of playing, fitness, mental attitude, feeling liked, wanting to do well for the manager are just some of the things that bring out the best in a player you've never suspected even had a best. Whatever, I'm pretty sure he was never going to do anything for us and James Rowe obviously shares that view. So I hope Airdrie suits him.

I knew he had a brother and a dad, but I didn't realise he had ever done well anywhere. I thought he was only in the game because of the influence of his dad's agency, but it sounds as though he showed for Airdrie.

There in Scottish League 1. Scottish football isn't a high standard though is it, a lot of players from English L1 and L2 can get into Scottish Premier sides.

I remember watching McKay come on as a sub at Stockport and I don't think he got one touch of the ball.

You also have to remember he was at Leeds and Cardiff. Okay he couldn't get a game, but several of our players have never managed to get near flying that high. I have to say the bits I've seen of him playing I only knew he was there from the teamsheet.

According to Wikipedia he's played 34 apps in his career and scored 1 goal.

I once read about a footballer called Carlos Kaiser he's Brazilian, a striker, joined 9 different teams in 11 years without playing 1 game. He was dubbed the 'Greatest footballer to never play football'.
