SFA Cup Round 5, Saturday 06/02/2016 : Rangers 0-0 Kilmarnock

Ah well, 0-0 final score, dominant display, created some good chances but just couldn't take one. Waghorn's mis-control in the box was unreal.

Higginbotham's red card totally justified, you can't go in for challenges like that anymore - it was both rash and dangerous play - and the studs on Tavernier's knee made it a nailed-on red. Don't know what the boy thought he was doing.

A game of missed chances today, Kilmarnock are a poor side, to come to Ibrox as a supposed premier league side and just camp in was disappointing to say the least. Def red card poor tackle, but it was coming to be fair lots of niggly fouls. You would have thought they had won the cup given their reaction at full time embarrasing.

Waghorn's been a bit off the boil lately and I'd like to see him rested for a game or two. We have other options but it's arguable whether or not they can be as effective.

Much as home advantage is always a good thing I think we can be confident going into most away games with the opposition less likely to camp in their own half, leaving more space for us to attack. We clearly need to adjust a bit though to playing sides that are playing better teams more regularly. That'll only come with experience if and when we get promoted. I think part of it is having to be more ruthless in front of goal, which is something we were better with early in the season. We can make chances but we have to make sure we're putting them away as often as possible.

I was pleased with the performance yesterday and think it says something about us that a premiership side came to Ibrox set only in defending.

I realise that Killie are not the bar we will be judged by when we are finally promoted, but they are a fair representation of the lower half of the league and we were far superior to them - on another day they would have had a multi goal hammering.

Not too bothered about progress in the cup although the other side of that is wanting to win every game and the potential for Europa league action next year.
