Ebbsfleet United have appointed former Glasgow Rangers and Queens Park Rangers coach Harry Watling as their new manager.

The 34-year-old succeeds Danny Searle, who was sacked earlier this week with the club bottom of the National League table.

Watling worked alongside Michael Beale when he was in charge of QPR and Rangers and was also head coach of USL Championship side Hartford Athletic for 18 months from January 2021.

David Kerslake will be Watling's assistant manager while John Cotton has been named as first-team coach.
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

Harry Watling has left his role as Ebbsfleet United manager after just three months in charge.

The 35-year-old led Fleet to just one win and nine losses in his 15 games in charge and the club are six points adrift at the bottom of the National League.

Ebbsfleet's only win of the season - a 1-0 win over Hartlepool united - came in Watling's first game in charge and the club are now are 11 points from safety.

The former former Glasgow Rangers and Queens Park Rangers coach succeeded Danny Searle who was sacked on 9 September.

Watling worked alongside Michael Beale when he was in charge of QPR and Rangers and was also head coach of USL Championship side Hartford Athletic for 18 months from January 2021.

The club says Josh Wright will take the role of first team manager "going forward" and will be assisted by Watling's number two David Kerslake.
