Post Transfer D-day options.

Morning All,
Well, whatever anyone thinks, we are 2 players better off then we were before Jan 1st, and still have hold of some stuttering strikers and no left back who the Guvner likes.
What are the options now?
Usually , around this time, a list is put together of the "out of contract" players that are available the CAN BE signed outside of the transfer window.
I see that Spurs have cancelled the contract of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, a left back that was a stalwart of the Pre Pochetino regime, so could he do a job for us?
He is 30, but given the right incentive, could be a good cheap option on a short term contract.
Also, there have always been a few strikers knocking around who are getting on a bit, but out of contract and available on short term deals.
Personally, I think TP will just suck it up, and get on with what he has got, and may have to look at the striker situation a little differently and also see if he can use Pocco or Baird at left back, even though he does not seem too keen on this- Lescott is wasted at L/B , IMO.
What do we all think?
Have we got enough to see us through, or do we look at OOC possibles?
Cheers,

I'm not sure anyone can incentivise Assou-Ekotto; the bloke's apparently said in the past that he hates football and is only in it for the money, and was on Twitter last night celebrating his newfound "freedom". Also strikes me as the type who wouldn't leave London if the whole place was on fire. Obviously if the club think he could contribute then I'd be all for it, but the last thing we need is another Scott Sinclair type.

Morning Ska,
Yeah, I seem to remember that quote, and you are probably right about the London thing, but now out of contract, no money coming in, could he really sit back and not do anything for the rest of his life.
Its easy to say you hate something when its not going your way, but when the chips are down, might he reconsider his options.
Any way, I also agree that another Sinclair would certainly not help.
Cheers,

Talking of whom, Sinclair has signed on loan for Villa. Let's hope that he is just as effective and motivated for them as he was for us. Laugh  Laugh

Afternoon Silva,
Have been monitoring this over the past few days, and it seems that Sinclair is making all the right noises, but after coming on at 3 - 0 down to Arsenal, then ending up on a 5 - 0 thrashing, maybe he has had second thoughts.
Villa are dire at present, and I cannot see him getting them out of trouble, or getting any joy from the Vile fans if he does what he did with us, and does not put the effort in.
We were looking for him to be a bit better than what we had, but Vile are looking for a saviour!
He needs to graft, and turn it on, or he will soon be nothing more than an expensive bench warmer.
Cheers,
Kookiebags.

Lescott at left back? what a total waste.
