Crawley Town have signed defender Toby Mullarkey and midfielder Gavan Holohan from Grimsby Town.

Mullarkey joins the Red Devils for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal, while Holohan put pen to paper on a two-year contract following the expiration of his deal at Blundell Park.

The 28-year-old defender has previously played at Rochdale and Altrincham, where he made more than 100 appearances.

"It is another step up for me in my career," Mullarkey told the club website., external

"I am delighted to get the deal done and am ready to get stuck in. My conversations with the manager have been really good so far, I think the relationship is going to work really well.”

Last season, the centre-back made 48 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and registering four assists.

Holohan, 32, featured 44 times across all competitions for Grimsby last season as they finished 21st in League Two.

"It has been in the pipeline for weeks now, and when I heard about the interest, I knew that I wanted to get the deal over the line."

Grimsby have signed defender Lewis Cass on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Port Vale.

The 24-year-old made 71 appearances for the Valiants over the course of two loan spells followed by a permanent move to Vale Park.

He finished the 2023-24 season on loan at League Two winners Stockport County, where he scored once in nine league appearances.

"I’ve been involved in a couple of promotions recently and we’ve got a good squad here and hopefully everyone can push each other," he told the club website.

Grimsby have signed former Port Vale defender Lewis Cass and Iceland international midfielder Jason Dadi Svanthorsson, both on two-year deals.

Grimsby Town have signed winger Luca Barrington from Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old has yet to play a first-team game for Brighton, but has made seven appearances for their Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy.

The Mariners finished 21st in League Two last season and will start the 2024-25 campaign with an away game against Fleetwood on Saturday.

"We’re excited to have Luca – he’s an excellent, technical player who’s going to provide us with something a bit different," said head coach David Artell.

"He’s a versatile forward who can play off both flanks and likes to get in behind the opposition."

Barrington is Grimsby's eighth signing of the summer transfer window.

Grimsby have signed midfielder Jordan Davies from Wrexham on a season-long loan.

Davies, 25, started his career with the Welsh club and returned there in 2020 following a spell three-year spell with Brighton.

He scored 21 goals during Wrexham's 2021-22 National League campaign.

"I think the club's a perfect fit for me to get back into the rhythm of playing games week in, week out, and I'm looking forward to getting started," Davies told Grimsby's website., external

"I'm an attacking midfielder who likes to create goals and also get in the box and score goals as well."

Head coach David Artell added: "I'm delighted we have been able to bring Jordan to Grimsby Town. He's a terrific player and we believe he'll be an excellent acquisition for us."

Grimsby Town have extended the contract of captain Danny Rose, keeping him at the club until the end of next season.

Rose, who joined Grimsby from Stevenage in the summer of 2023, has had an extra year added to his deal.

The 30-year-old striker has scored 17 goals in his 55 appearances for the Mariners.

"He’s the club captain, a leader and he was our top goalscorer last season," said head coach David Artell, external.

"He’s an experienced pro and he’s really important to this football club, on and off the pitch."

Grimsby, who are seventh in League Two, host Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday (15:00 BST).

Grimsby Town forward Cameron Gardner has extended his contract until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The 19-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Mariners this season.

He scored his first goal in senior football in the 3-2 win over Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy earlier this month.

“We are delighted to tie up Cam to a new deal and he’s fully deserved it. What he has achieved as a first-year professional has been excellent," boss Dave Artell told the club website.

Grimsby Town have signed Faroe Islands midfielder Geza David Turi from Vikingur for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has agreed a contract until the summer of 2027 but he will not available for the League Two match at Bromley on Saturday as the club are waiting for international clearance.

Turi helped Vikingur win the Faroese Premier League title in 2024, scoring five goals, and has Europa Conference League experience with the Leirvik-based club.

"I'm really happy to finally get the deal over the line. I'm looking forward to wearing the black and white shirt and meeting the fans," he told the club website, external.

He is Grimsby's second signing of the January transfer window after they brought in midfielder Darragh Burns from fellow League Two side MK Dons for an undisclosed fee last Sunday.

Grimsby Town are set to release six players after they missed out on a play-off on a play-off spot on the final day following a home defeat by AFC Wimbledon.

Goalkeeper Jake Eastwood, midfielders Curtis Thompson and Callum Ainley, winger Rekeil Pyke, forward Donovan Wilson and youngster Harvey Cribb will all leave Blundell Park this summer.

Jordan Wright and Matty Carson have been placed on the transfer list, but defender Denver Hume has been offered new terms by the Mariners.

David Artell's side ended the season in ninth, their best finish since promotion from the National League in 2022.

Grimsby Town have signed Altrincham forward Justin Amaluzor on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old started his career with Barnet and has had spells with Braintree, Maidstone and Motherwell.

He scored 12 goals in 65 league appearances for Alty after joining from Aldershot in June 2023.

"Justin comes off the back of an excellent season at Altrincham and we feel he has a really high ceiling to continue his growth," boss David Artell told the club website., external
