Carlisle United have signed Paul Dummett on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Dummett, 33, moves to Brunton Park after the expiration of a deal with League One Wigan Athletic where he made five appearances.

He is the sixth player to join Carlisle - the club bottom of League Two - this month.

But as Dummett arrives, AFC Bournemouth have recalled duo Dan Adu-Adjei and Dominic Sadi from their loan spells at the Cumbrian club.

Dummett left Newcastle United last summer, having come through the ranks at St James' Park where he made 213 appearances.

His time there coincided with Carlisle head coach Mike Williamson for whom he will now be playing.

"He brings a lot of experience at a high level. I think he'll be a really good influence on the changing room on and off the field," Williamson told the club's website, external.

Adu-Adjei and Sadi were both on season-long loans with Carlisle, but the Cherries have brought them back early after suffering a spate of injuries.

Forward Adu-Adjei, 19, played 17 games, while winger Sadi, 21, made 25 appearances, with both scoring two goals.

Carlisle United have signed attacking midfielder Stephen Wearne from MK Dons, their seventh new arrival of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with League Two's bottom side.

Wearne has made 11 league appearances for MK Dons this season and joins the Cumbrians for an undisclosed fee.

He came through the Newcastle United youth academy before moving to Middlesbrough and then Sunderland but never played a first-team game for those sides.

Wearne had spells with Torquay, Grimsby Town and played under Carlisle head coach Mike Williamson at Gateshead before moving to MK Dons in January 2024.

"I think the fans will enjoy watching him. He will bring a lot of energy and quality.

"We're really pleased he's joined us here at Carlisle after having a lot of interest."

Carlisle United have signed Newcastle United defender Charlie McArthur on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old becomes the eighth player to join the Cumbrians, who are seven points adrift of safety at the foot of League Two, this month.

The Scot started his career at Kilmarnock and made his senior debut at the age of 16 before joining Newcastle in July 2022.

He could make his debut for Mike Williamson's men in the home game against Bradford City on Saturday.

arlisle United have completed the signing of Birmingham City's Josh Williams for an undisclosed fee.

The defender moves to Brunton Park on a two-and-a-half deal as their 10th signing during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old arrives having made 10 appearances on loan at National League Gateshead this season.

He came through the academy at Birmingham where he made 10 appearances and also had a loan spell in League One at Cheltenham Town last season.

"I'm really excited to get him in, he's got pace and power," head coach Mike Williamson told the club's website, external.

"He's a player who will really excite the fans with the way he plays."

Carlisle remain bottom of League Two, seven points adrift of safety.

Carlisle United winger Kadeem Harris has extended his deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old signed a short-term contract with the Cumbrians in November and has scored two goals in 11 appearances.

Mike Williamson's side are second from bottom in League Two, five points adrift of safety.

Meanwhile, midfielder Taylor Charters has joined Scottish League One side Queen of the South on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Charters, 23, who scored the winning penalty Carlisle in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in 2023, has made nine appearances this season.

He is the eighth player to leave Brunton Park this month.

Carlisle United have signed young striker Joseph Bevan on loan from Burnley for the rest of the season.

Bevan, 20, is the 11th player the Cumbrians have brought in during the January transfer window.

Bevan joined Burnley last January from Scottish club Albion Rovers, but he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Clarets.

Carlisle are 23rd in League Two, five points shy of safety.

Prolific Altrincham striker Regan Linney has signed for Carlisle United for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old, whose 25 goals for the Robins earned him a place in the National League team of the season, joins the relegated Cumbrians on a three-year deal.

He scored 44 goals in 93 total appearances for Alty and head coach Mark Hughes said he likes Linney's "flexibility".

"We like the way he goes about his business, he's got flexibility which is important and he can play down the middle or from the left, and he scored a lot of goals from that position last season," Hughes said, external.
