Rotherham United have signed Nuremberg winger Joseph Hungbo on a season-long loan deal.

The 24-year-old started his career at Watford and had loan spells with Ross County and Huddersfield before joining the German second tier side last summer.

He is the Millers' 11th summer signing after the club finished bottom of the Championship in 2023-24.

Rotherham start the new season with a trip to Exeter City on Saturday, 10 August.

Rotherham United have signed striker Esapa Osong on loan from Nottingham Forest for the coming season.

The 19-year-old featured for Forest's Premier League 2 team last season and made his senior debut in an EFL Cup defeat by Manchester United in February 2023.

Osong has scored seven goals in 29 appearances for Forest's under-21 side.

Rotherham manager Steve Evans told the Millers club website, external: "This has been a three-month-long process and we have had to show great patience but it will be worth the hard work put in.

"A striker who scores a goal is hard to get at any time and one who works so hard for the team is very rare, we have that with Esapa."

Rotherham have signed Jack Holmes on an initial one-year deal following a trial period at New York Stadium.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who can play in a wide or central role, featured against the Millers for seventh-tier side Stamford AFC earlier in pre-season after joining them last month.

The South Yorkshire club have a further year's option on Holmes, who has previously played for Halesowen and Hereford.

Rotherham boss Steve Evans told the club website:, external "Young Jack is now a very live project for us. You can do no more than be deserving of a chance."

Rotherham United have signed Sheffield Wednesday forward Mallik Wilks on a season-long loan deal.

The 25-year-old has made 31 league appearances for the Owls since joining from Hull City in August 2022.

He scored 20 league goals to help the Tigers win the third tier title in 2020-21.

Wilks could make his debut for the Millers at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

"He's been an exceptional talent, particularly in League One," boss Steve Evans told BBC Radio Sheffield., external

"He needs to be playing football and he needs to be loved."

Oxford United's Louie Sibley has joined Rotherham United on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has made 11 appearances for the U's in the Championship this campaign and since Gary Rowett's arrival has had limited game time, playing just 16 minutes of football in Oxford's past seven league games.

Sibley moved to the Kassam from Derby County in the summer on a free transfer having come through the Rams' academy.

He made 173 senior appearances for Derby before his summer move to the U's, during that time he scored 20 goals and registered 11 assists.

He was a key part of their promotion-winning side from League One to the Championship last season, making 44 appearances across all competitions.

Rotherham, who lie 13th in League One and are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions, travel to second-bottom Burton Albion on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

Rotherham United have signed Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has made two senior appearances for the Premier League side and has captained the club's under-21 team this season.

He joined Port Vale on loan last season in January but injury restricted him to just one game.

Gore could make his debut for the Millers in Saturday's trip to League One leaders Birmingham City (15:00 GMT).

Rotherham United have released Andre Green, Alex MacDonald, Dillon Phillips and Jake Hull following the conclusion of the 2024-25 League One season.

Green, 26, joined from Slovan Bratislava in 2023 but made just 26 appearances during an injury-hit two seasons with the club.

MacDonald, 35, made 19 Millers appearances, having joined from Stevenage last summer.

Goalkeeper Phillips, 29, turned out 35 times for the club this term while 23-year-old Hull made just five senior appearances and has previously spent time on loan with Guiseley, Hartlepool, Boston United and Buxton.

Meanwhile, the club have offered new contracts to Hakeem Odoffin, Cameron Humphreys, Hamish Douglas, Joshua Kayode and Ciaran McGuckin.

Defensive pair Odoffin and Humphreys made 52 and 46 appearances respectively for the club this term.

The club also said they had exercised contract options on Jack Holmes, Ben Hatton and Josh Ayres for the 2025-26 campaign.

Rotherham United defensive midfielder Hakeem Odoffin has left the club after rejecting a new deal.

The 27-year-old, who won their supporters' and player's player of the year awards this season, made 117 league appearances in four seasons with the League One side.

"We're really disappointed that Haks sees his future away from Rotherham, but we also understand it for all the reasons he has detailed in the many discussions we have had about his future," boss Matt Hamshaw told the club website., external

"He has been first class for this football club both as a player and an ambassador in the community and I am 100% confident that you won't find anybody who has encountered him throughout the last four years that says otherwise."
