I love the fact that even with a very small squad we do keep fighting. And now we've got Scunny back to our place it would be great to get the ultimate derby match with or without the brolly man. But we are having to work very hard.

I do also wonder about pro' football's training methods. Our lads are playing two games a week, yet it's still necessary to train them to the extent that we seem to experience as many injuries in training as in games. This isn't just a Chesterfield thing, it's throughout the game. Arsenal's players break down in training, in warm-ups and having warmed-up within minutes of actually getting on to a pitch. Is there a point at which fitness becomes a danger to health?

Too much stress on the body can cause injury and also fatigue will play a massive part in our season. Players who haven't played much will have to step up to the plate if or when we have a injury crisis.

10th Jan - Port Vale
13th Jan - Scunny
17th Jan - Swindon
24th Jan - Derby/ no game
27th Jan - Crawley
31st Jan - Doncaster
07th Feb - Notts County
10th Feb - Preston

So a lot of games in a short space of time. We were meant to play Scunthorpe away in the league on the 24th so that will be rearranged for a midweek game but no one knows when. This season we will have played Scunthorpe 5 times and MK 4 times.
