Hibs v Saint Johnstone, Tues 24 Nov, KO 7.00pm - 0762 - 24-11-2020

Here is an opportunity for Hibs to take over the 3rd spot in the Scot Prem from the Dons but will they take it? We'll find out if they are still feeling sorry for themselves after throwing away a victory v Celtic. There is no doubt in my mind that Saint J, with one defeat in their last eight games, will make it difficult for Hibs tonight although IMO Hibs are a far superior team if they "show up". I think Jamie Gullan should start in front of Doidge and see how he fares v such a stuffy team. Another point of interest for me is how Boyly performs tonight - will he continue to be a real irritation to many Hibs fans again?? It really is high time he started playing properly! IMO Hibs are not playing badly but can play better with the correct line up. C'mon Hibs!

Aye 0762, will / could be a difficult game. The number of times I have watched us against St J and they have got a good result whether deserved or not.......bit of a bogey team for us.

After some fight against Celtic we need to go again with the same intensity and should be good enough on paper to get 3 points, especially with better composure at the back.........but who knows?

I too, would go with Gullan and hook Boyle if again he shows his present form and lack of control, especially his first touch.

St J have a few first team players out, id expect us to win this comfortably.

1 . 1 at halftime , McGinn for Hibs to pull us back level immediately.

Looking a little lethargic and at present going the usual way against St J. Sad

2 . 2 final . ( McGinn x2 )

Nothing more to say except I hope Gogic was injured and so was substituted, otherwise that was strange!

St J worked hard but am afraid we gifted them 2 goals. .......hope Hanlon is not badly hurt.

Gogic substitution was madness totally opened up taking our best player off, McG finished too slow, Mallan is getting a chance but let's be honest he isn't good enough, if we are to finish 4th this season we need to seriously improve as currently we are starting to slip.

Aye , forgot to say Mallan and Boyle not good enough at present.

Like the look of Murphy and Mackie down the left.

Boyles been honking for a while now and could use some bench time, he only plays because we are short of pace I reckon. Nisbet and Mallen were both v poor the night.

We were the better side probably, but to be honest like at the weekend I don't think we played that well. I thought the gogic one was strange, but I guess it was an attempt to be more positive but it ended up with SJ getting more of the ball in dangerous areas. My biggest bug bear was that we seemed to play in fits and starts, the tempo went up when we needed a goal but fell back again when we should have been kicking on for the win.

I know i keep saying it but we seriously lack a pacy, creative player in the midfield.

The Hanlon injury is a worry tae.

Note Saint Johnstone have not been beaten by Hibs at ER Stadium since 2012!!!! Thumb down IMO these are the kinda games that Hibs really should be winning at home and they aint been doing it for years - not good enough esp during this season and being in a league position close to the Dons! Re the continuously irritating poor form of Martin Boyle, I wonder what "fast Eddie" Turnbull would've done with him after months of observing his poor commitment for the team!!? It wouldn't be pretty to watch but I'd back him to motivate Boyly or else! Also what a good observation Jim re the events after JR's substitution of Gogic - the manager clearly lost an element of midfield control to Saint Johnstone and then a number of minutes later Hibs lost the second goal to a player who I was immediately alerted to being a goal threat when he came on as a Saint J sub - Wotherspoon!!! Of course, our manager doesn't have that historical knowledge of our ex-player!! Thankfully Paul McGinn "bailed out" the manager with his first goals for Hibs, a "brace"! Not so good in Hibs defence though Paul!! Re Saint Johnstone, my pre-match plan would've been to deploy a strategy to nullify the presence of McCann in their midfield area and I believe Hibs would've won this game pretty comfortably. You'll gather I am again unimpressed by Jack Ross and for good reason. Does this Hibs manager actually know what his best team is???? Anyway, one point is better than no points but note Hibs have not broken this poor sequence of bad results although Ross tried to do it by replacing Gogic with Doidge in a perceived positive attacking ploy - a bizarre move at that point of the 2nd half when sheer pace was the key to beating them and winning comfortably plus, of course, certain Hibs players not scorning the scoring opps that arise in front of the opposition goal!!
