How high Addai our new signing? Scoop or Poop? - Devongone - 18-11-2020 According to Barnsley's website we've signed 23 year old Corey Addai on loan from them for a month. The signing doesn't seem to be on our website and Bob's Board isn't talking about it. What is stranger still is that last night when I logged on to the BBC website mid game it showed our goalkeeper as Addai, and other than an American footballer Corey was the only one I could find. Barnsley refer to him as a giant and list him at 2.02 metres tall. Elsewhere he is listed at 1.93 which is my height. So Dancing remains our only giant. I can't help a few I-told-you-sos about Letheren. He is a bit overweight, slow and worried by crosses, which is not a good combination in the National League as you slide well into your thirties. Bob's seems to hate him, but they hate Pembo, don't trust the Trust, have replaced Carson with Croot and are still hoping Donald Trump will win Pennsylvania. Addai did have a loan period at Mickleover, so maybe that's the place to send SpireMatt for the low-down or high-down in this case. Anyway when you have a defensive combination that seemed reasonably settled at times last season, if well short of excellent, and with the new season they become frightened of their own shadows, you have to look for a reason. Jalal was a very ordinary, almost competent keeper, Letheren might have reached those heights a few seasons ago. Now? Well clearly the defence doesn't trust itself. I hope that Barnsley can be trusted and that Addai can get a lot of much needed experience on Saturday in our stupidly named stadium. Our former giant keeper Aaron Chapman is at Motherwell, did you know? He took over on first team duty a few weeks back from our former loan keeper Carson who seems to have got yet another serious injury. Grimshaw is still there too, full back or sub'. RE: How high Addai our new signing? Scoop or Poop? - Dancingwilldoit - 18-11-2020 So Pemberton has gone. I didnt think he was doing that bad. He needed to sort out the defence, signed a new keeper who let in 3 and another loss. He didnt get much of a chance and am sure we would have been mid table with a bit better rub of the green. We should have been out of sight last night had the ball fallen differently. Oh well, onwards and upwards. I would like to see Sheridan back myself. I see Bobs are shouting for Cookie. Firstly he'd be mad and secondly we would. He had his day and its no good trying to turn back the clock. There are enough ambitious managers at our level who would snatch your hand off for a chance to manage us. Thats the way we need to go. Never heard of him Dev. When I saw the line-up last night I thought he was a youth team player. (18-11-2020, 21:22)Dancingwilldoit Wrote: So Pemberton has gone. I didnt think he was doing that bad. Since Cook left we've had 7 permanent managers and now looking for an 8th in 5 years. RE: How high Addai our new signing? Scoop or Poop? - Devongone - 18-11-2020 This is embarrassing. Because I'd never heard of Addai, I looked at the match report on the club website. I clicked read more and instead of going to the rest of the report, it jumped to the report from the Maidenhead match, so I just rolled to the bottom to check the team and found Letheren had played. So until now I thought he had and Addai on the BBC perhaps hadn't signed in time to play. They'll bring in Nicky Law now won't they, having sacked poor old Pembo. I don't know how he could do much different. We didn't sort out the ownership or his job, or furlough in time to build a proper team. That's why we fckued up the FA Cup. Bob's is moaning about losing to part-timers, but Blissett and Kosylo are miles better than what we've got and BOTH were searching for a new start in the close season. If we want a keeper to be ours then Cameron Mason is the best in National North, got picked for England C and would be cheaper than sacking Pembo. Every player below National North and South would be desperate to step up. None of them good enough? Well lots of these teams that beat us recruit there. Bob's Board has been awful on Pembo. They all talk as though he'd been at work throughout lockdown etc. He was the one man we needed not to be furloughed. Other clubs were signing players whilst we were closed. RE: How high Addai our new signing? Scoop or Poop? - Dancingwilldoit - 19-11-2020 Have seen Tim Flowers name mentioned as he is without a club? Could we do much better? I just hope to god we don't go for an ex league manager, Keith Hill keeps cropping up. |
