League Cup 2020 - Baggievicar - 06-09-2020

Ey up, Harrogate Baggie, see what we've got!
Shame it's not up here, though.

In passing, isn't it strange how we've got used to something called the Carabao Cup.

RE: League Cup 2020 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 14-09-2020

The cup fun gets underway at 6pm on Wednesday as Albion square up to Harrogate Town for the first time ever. In the havoc of the pandemic and Albion's own promotion campaign I completely missed the fact that the Sulphurites had been elevated to the Football League, so the draw came as a bit of a surprise, and having started their campaign well with a 4-0 victory at Southend to add to beating Tranmere on penalties in the first round, they should be brimming with confidence now they visit the Hawthorns as League Two leaders.

It seems that 31-year-old Jack Muldoon is the one to watch among the visitors; a former plasterer whose career took him from Brigg Town to Glapwell, Stocksbridge Park Steels, North Ferriby United and Worksop Town before joining Harrogate in 2018. With thirty goals in two years including a brace against Southend on Saturday, he's supported by new signing Aaron Martin, and former Huddersfield man Jon Stead who enjoyed some Premier League football in the mid-2000s.

This should be interesting, a Prem side against a newly promoted semi amateur side.  What are the odds for them to win? Big Grin

RE: League Cup 2020 - Lord Snooty - 15-09-2020

The BBC website is still showing that this match has been postponed, but it's on the Sky Sports planner to go ahead as planned. There was a fixture clash as Harrogate were due to play their rescheduled FA Trophy final game at Wembley on Thursday against Notts County.
I assume Sky have flexed their muscles and the Trophy match has been shifted.

RE: League Cup 2020 - Blue Baggie - 15-09-2020

I'm not looking forward to this game, IMO we should field a full strength side and see how far we can get in the competition.
Alas it will be another friendly giving our guys a run out. I predict a win for Harrogate. Big Grin

I'd like to see:
Button
Furlong - Ajayi - Kiprè - Gibbs
Livermore
Grosicki - Pereira - Harper - Diangana
Robinson

That team would have done better against Leicester.....

Pretty much with you, I'd play Field rather then Harper.

RE: League Cup 2020 - Slick_Footwork - 16-09-2020

Button

Peltier
Kipre
O'Shea
Townsend

Grosicki
Harper
Field
Edwards

Kanu
Austin

Bench: Bond, Furlong, Ajayi, Phillips, Sawyers, Robinson, Soule.

Chance for a few to stake a claim. The selection to me suggests that we've seen the end of Hegazi. The only explanation other than sale if he was one of the league's positive covid tests?

RE: League Cup 2020 - Worldclassalbion - 16-09-2020

I’m liking the look of Button. Certainly happy coming for crosses and commanding his area.
