Hibs v Aberdeen, Sun 30 August, KO 4.30pm - 0762 - 28-08-2020

Well this is a home match where I wanna see Hibs "flying out the traps" to take on Aberdeen in a really positive way. The way I see this impending confrontation is the fact that the Dons have played out a Europa League quali match tonight and I definitely wanna see Hibs testing out tired legs on Sunday. This is a game to try and grab 3 pts v a close challenger and they have also incurred some bad injuries to key players and IMO can be beaten by a form team. However, Hibs must play better than of late. C'mon Hibs!

GGTTH

A big game for us, I really want us to turn them over and get the 3 points. Too often they have beat us undeservedly.

The last 2 or 3 performances have definitely been poor, so I'd like to see standards lifted and hopefully a clean sheet.

This will be a real test, Aberdeen have found some form while our performances haven't been great, also our training has been interrupted this week by a Covid scare.

Once again we came up short when Aberdeen brought a physical battle to the table.

First half we did ok had a couple of chances but instead the sheep took the lead and our response was terrible considering we nearly had a whole half of football to play. We have started the season really well points wise but our performances haven't been much cop since before tannadice. Definitely need some improvement in the middle of the park and in our attacking play, Allan is like a man down and Hallberg doesn't convince. I don't think Doidge can play up top on his own either although its hard to slag him off as he worked very hard.

I have to say I'm still not totally convinced by Ross. He was schooled by McInnes the day.

I "wrote off" Hibs pre-match chances as soon as I read this fiasco re Gogic, coincidentally one of our best box to box players up to now!!! Also I can't hide my anger and frustration at losing to THEM!!!! The reasons for my angst are numerous - 1. The recent McCrorie transfer gazump by AFC 2. Their player violations re COVID compliance and the subsequent "cream puff" SFA penalties 2. McInnes' very unimpressive conciliatory "defence"(???) of these offending AFC players compared with the response of the likes of Neil Lennon 3. Hibs have adhered to COVID compliance but suffer a dogmatic penalty anyway 4. Hibs finally "burst the AFC league bogey" last season with a 3-0 victory but still look like they are trying to overcome a psychological barrier 5. The winning Aberdeen goal was a totally avoidable goal in which Martin Boyle really did not impress - defensively clueless, unaware of what was happening around him and his uncaring response right after "setting himself up" to a Dons' pk was jaw-dropping plus his attacking performance was a nightmare in which he could have "saved the match" but didn't!
6. The meek manner in which Hibs conceded to another defeat that ended such a positive unbeaten run is a massive wake up call to all Hibs fans.
Jack Ross? Well that was an opportunity lost and he has discovered that Halberg is nothing more than a Championship player if that. Newell is the same - they will never lift themselves higher than that kinda level of footie; therefore not good enough at ER! Scott Allan must be used wisely and will never be a solid, dictating mid player like John McGinn who actually previously "carried" him through tough matches until Allan was eventually replaced - not got the physicality or mentality to dominate a footie match! Nisbet has been badly missed up front where "two up top" looked a better option for Hibs - Doidge up front just short of a useless ploy by Jack Ross!!Thumb down. I still think the Dons were beatable today and are actually fairly punchless up front even though they created scoring chances - hence my frustration re the Boyle gaffe/attitude in conceding that crucial 1st goal - a case of DON'T CONCEDE, THEREFORE DON'T GET BEAT!!!!
Lastly, I think we need three more players to really enhance this team but whether Ross can find the right ones is anyone's guess.

Historically Hibs are dejected when they lose a stupid goal - like today and very seldom cone back and to get something from the game.
My worry is that after a game like that we lose all confidence and concentration which sees us having a bad run of 4 or 5 matches.
Hopefully today was just a blip after our good start to the season and we can get back to winning ways soon.

Whats most disappointing is Aberdeen had a game midweek but they looked fitter and more up for the battle 2nd half. Ross has got us defending a lot better so far but the midfield is too soft and too much of a muchness. We need a couple of really good all-rounders in the team, dare I say it but McCrorie would have been a good addition for us.

1 goal from open play from the last 4 games. We need to up our game in the opponents half.

As for Gogic, unbelievably bad luck, player tests positive through no fault of their own yet the follow up tests show negative. Yet we get punished more than Aberdeen who had players out on the pish at the source of a covid outbreak!!! Mental.

RE: Hibs v Aberdeen, Sun 30 August, KO 4.30pm - 0762 - 31-08-2020

Hear hear Jim! That Gogic farce is one factor that has really made my blood boil!! What a joke and the "damage" to Hibs league aspirations could be severe.

RE: Hibs v Aberdeen, Sun 30 August, KO 4.30pm - BouncingHibees - 31-08-2020

Aberdeen are more ambitious and spend more money mostly from benny factors, we don't have the same ambition and urgently need to sort out our powderpuff midfeild. Ron needs to step up with his wallet and stop penny pinching. JR saying transfer window is over for Hibs is concerning also, surely he's watching the eye bleeding stuff we are.

We are a good 2/3 players light at the moment from being able to go and have a crack at a good season. Jack's kidding himself on if he thinks this is going to work out with that midfield personnel.

Also mccrorie looks a better player than Ryan Jack to me. He must be wondering why he isn't getting a game at the sevco dome.
