The League champions are awarded 92 League pts, runners-up 91, etc
and the bottom team in League 2/Div 4 get 1 point.
(Between 1924 and 1950, there were only 88 Clubs in the League,
and so the League champions get 88 League pts.)
Between 1888 (12 Clubs) and 1923 (86 Clubs) there were varying
nos of League members. The Champs get 12 pts (for example) for
winning the 1888-89 season,
When there were 2 Division 3s (North & South), the winners would have
each received 49 pts, whilst the runners-up both got 47.

1951 to present 92 1924 to 1950  88  1922 to 1923  86  1921  66
1920  44 1906 to 1915  40  1899 to 1905 36  1895 to 1898 32
1894    31 1893    28  1892   14  1888 to 1891 12

Name Changes have been taken into account and combined -
(eg Swansea Town and Swansea City )

Can you think of a fairer way to assess all-time accomplishment?
I can award 92 pts in the early years (if you like), which would favour Albion, but that's a Boris Johnson type of trick.  Wink
Some might say it's just winning trophies that's important....so would you give 100 for winning the League? 150?
I can imagine Chelsea & Spurs fans ridiculing this League, as they tend to prefer what's happened in recent Years (to suit their claims).

HaHa
Thanks, Bob. I actually first* did it 10 years ago to settle a dispute with a Dingle at Work, who thought his Team were better than they were, just because of their limited success in the 50s.
(If they finish 1 League ahead of us - 20 places - for the next 17 years they will have caught us!)

* Updated annually. I had alot of time on my hands at Work just then!

Incidentally we're 9th (Dingles 13th, Vile 5th) in F.A.Cup progress with 7pts for the Winners, and 1 for 3rd Round (or equivalent) exit.

Can't be right. Leeds above Huddersfield? Have you included Leeds City's results in there?

Leeds City accumulated 105 pts 1906-1915. But United 1920-2020 6707 pts.
Terriers a long way behind, I'm afraid, with 5481.

Fair enough. I had a look at their record last night. Their pre war record wasn't as bad as I thought.
