Briefly sticking my toe back in the water - 4evaabaggie - 13-05-2020

Not been on since early August .... Love the Albion hate modern football set up ... Can't get enthused.

Just wanted to say glad everyone's okay and to give my condolences to those that have lost loved ones.

I lost my last uncle to covid a couple of weeks ago, couldn't say goodbye or go to his send off and was tested positive myself over easter, the risks of working in a hospital, I'm better now and back working, but the pressure is still on, staff off sick of shielding.

Anyway stay safe all, hope you all get thorough this lockdown with no more casualties.

Until next time ......

Welcome back, Eva!
Hope you don't mind, but how was your bout/experience of the Virus? How horrible was it?

Talksaft, I think I had it lucky, even though I work in a hospital, frontline, not a clinical role, it's a second career / job following early retirement. But close contact with patients with covid, specimens both infected and non infected and the hardest part, the final journeys of people's loved ones.

My experience, to me was very minor, my wife of many decades would disagree. She kept on at me saying I was ill, I felt fine and as men do pushed on until the weekend before easter, I was coming home from work very tired and just sleeping, I had a slight tickly throat, speech was difficult kept wanting to clear my throat/cough, my chest was tight and I had a shortness of breath. I thought I had a cold / chest infection. I looked in the bathroom mirror and I looked like death no colour, almost ashen, I felt dizzy and almost passed out twice. My better half had had enough and phoned me in sick. Days of isolation in the bedroom and ensuite to protect family.

My HR phoned me after two days and sent me and my household for tests, I was positive, my wife and son were negative. Daughters live away. I was told to self isolate for 7 and everyone else for 14. told if No symptoms after 7 days return, I was back at work easter monday.

How horrible?, For me personally not to bad, for a lot of the staff and patients at work, awful, really, really bad and frightening. a couple of friends hospitalised, some colleagues admitted into ITU, fortunately making a recovery, discharged and gone home now. You don't want to catch it.

Do whatever you need to do to stay safe and to keep your loved ones safe.

Thanks all for the messages of support, don't see myself as a NHS hero, just a bloke doing his job for the benefit of the trust and trust users. I was doing it before the pandemic, doing it during the pandemic and I'll do it for a few years after the pandemic.

Once again, stay safe all ...... Hoping we all come thorough with minimum health, mental health and family damage.

4eva, your 1st paragraph could've been written by me.

All the best to you mate. It's a shame it's taken such a catastrophic event but at last, and thank God, we now value all in the NHS front line as we should Thumb up

And if the season ever restarts, you’re still likely to finish above Beefy.
