Just above the flood waters
Under the trees of the Kilner Bank
Basking in the glow of the Prima Donna League Floodlights
HD1, somewhere off Leeds Road
The lights will be on so you can't miss it.

29th February 2020
Kick-off 15:00 or 3 o'clock in old money

29th February? - now that means it's a Leap Year, so tradition 'as it that yon lasses can propose to yon lads if they're that way inclined. So keep yer guards up chaps, it's only one day every four years they can spring this one on ya. Play wi' a straight bat until Sunday morning and tha'll be arl reet. of course, if you get hammered, can't remember owt the next morning and find you've got a ring through your nose Sunday morning, don't come crying to me. You've been warned.

And happy Birthday to all the 15 year olds that wake up with a 60 year old's hangover this weekend. Sick

Right, now I'm sure I'm doing this for a reason. Oh yes, football or soccerball as they call it in the land of Trumpton Towers.

Nooooo - somewhere I just blew 2 hours of work on this. Pissed off or what? Sad

On the tellybox

Latest news
Grabara's fit, but I can't see him replacing Lossl just now, Hoggy has a knee injury, courtesy of those roughian zyder drinkers from Brizzle, can't see him playing either.

Can't see a snowball's chance in hell of any snow in the area lasting while Saturday. More chance of the bridges over the river getting washed away. If like me you were tucked up warm at home with a nice brew on Tuesday night, well this is Saturday afternoon, get your backside down to the match. If I can do a 200+ mile round trip you've no excuse. Don't see the point of moaning about not being able to get Prima Donna League away tickets if you don't turn up on a cold wet Saturday in February for a match against Charlton.

Last time out
Well we put the disjointed pathetic attempt at football at Swansea, look you, behind us and battered Brizzle but only ran out 2-1 winners.

Charlton meanwhile experienced the deep joy of playing Wendies off the park and losing 1-0. According to Lee Bowyer,, well he came out with the same bollox after we won at theirs earlier in the season.

[Image: 5Nt_zfX6uPGe7dTXXLe1LSYUAc2RC3qYg191GWJk...79-h355-no]

This ability of Mr. Bowyer, and occasionally some of our own, to not see the bleeding obvious is maybe best explained by Professor Stanley Unwin

Oh Follocks! Deep Joy! Indeed.

Table
You might want to take a chair before you read this.
Our win on Tuesday and the results of Tuesday and Wednesday inched us a few places closer to mid-table mediocrity, well at least it took our arses off the trap door. However, let's not get tooo complacement. That trap door is still 2 points below us and Luton are only six below us.

Form
Well if ours is hit and miss Charlton are definitely on an upper and a downer, game in, game out. Let's hope we put an end to this particular run for results for them.

Thank your for the music
An occasional diversion into the musical hinterland of the regions that our opponents inhabit.

They didn't appear in the list I looked at, but they've had the odd shindig down in The Valley or two and fish farming Roger Daltrey has a soft spot for the club.

Addicks fans will be hoping that with the new owners they also ..........

Doesn't take much for me to throw an 'oo track on and no I've never had a scooter or wandered around with a target on my back, nor ever wanted to.

See 'em over the next couple of months around the UK if can get tickets, but they'll cost a few bob more than £4 this time Big Grin

Other musical luminaries living in the area include everyone's fave Hootenanny host, Jools Holland and Squeeze guitarist Glenn Tillbrook is amongst their famous fans. Later Jools, later, you haven't gone down The Tube just yet.

What's stirring - Down in the Valley
Well the good news that the bunch of Belgian chocolates that used to foist unknown players on unwilling managers finally said they were off in December finally put a smile on Addicks fans faces.

The free pie and mash and jellied eels for life offer of East Street Investments under new Chairman Matt Southall is going to take a while to digest but was at least good enough to melt the heart, if not the bank balance, of Roland Duchâtelet.

The club was founded on 9 June 1905 when a number of youth clubs in south-east London, including East Street Mission and Blundell Mission, combined to form Charlton Athletic.
Y'Abu Dahbi Doo, someone knows the history of the club.

Wonder if they will sheik up the Addicks like Man City, or be the poorest Arabs on the planet, like the ones that owned L666s? Time will tell.

Later with Jools Holland? From The Tube actually. Remember rushing home to watch this on Friday tea-time telly?

More of him in this link if you want to watch it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A1VAsl_4TY, but that's it, I'm through with this one.

Well no - not quite. Chances are we'll hear this chant at some point on Saturday - just sung to a different tune.

Have to say some of my most enjoyable days out watching Town are darn the smoke watching Town at Charlton. Hope you guys enjoy your trip norf of Watfud Gap just as much, apart from the bit between  3 & 5 pm.

See ya next season.

He's electric and I don't think he'll regret it.

Mounie on and he scores.

Grant made it 3 and Bacuna scored a cracker in injury time to make it 4.

https://twitter.com/HTAFC_STATTO/status/1233800902450065408

@HTAFC_STATTO: For the first time in 749 days #htafc have scored 4 in a game.

It is also the first time in 1510 days that Huddersfield have won by a 4 goal margin or more in the league.

Which was also against Charlton Athletic! https://t.co/l0EPgxPhEK

Days like this are ace. I only spent about 5 minutes worrying we were going to throw it away. That's good going for me. I thought we bossed it on the whole but was still (happily) surprised we kept a clean sheet. Wish we could keep Lossl.

Slightly petty remarks to make about Bacuna faffing in the box and Smith-Rowe not shooting when he could have. But, really, there can't be any complaints.

Loved the welcome for big Col.

RE: Terriers v Addicks - Squeeky Bum Time - 29th Feb 2020 - theo_luddite - 29-02-2020

Well that certainly warmed me up. Me fingers are just thawing out in the pub. Rattling good last 15 minutes to top off another good display.

If the choice of manager was DC or Bowyer, I'm glad our chairman had the good sense to read my posts earlier in the season. Big Grin

RE: Terriers v Addicks - Squeeky Bum Time - 29th Feb 2020 - Lord Snooty - 29-02-2020

Six points in the week. Very good performance today as well. We weren't as good as Tuesday night and Charlton were much better than Brizzle but today we won 4-0. A great confidence booster for the game against them bums next week.

I had Trev pencilled in as man of the match but can't argue that young Lewis got it. I thought they would've given it to Karlan for his two goals but the sponsors votes had probably been cast and counted by the time his second went in. Talking of which, what a brilliant impact sub Juninho is.

And what about the Toffolo Kid?  What a superb signing he's turned out to be. As has Stearman. He and Schindler were awesome again. Kept the dangerous Taylor quiet.

And finally, great to see the Town wave at the end again. It's our identity and we should stick with it. Hopefully doing it next week at the Big Yellow Skip.

And Smiff Rowe and Willo showed why they're not ready for 3 games in a week. Both looked a shadow of the players they were on Tuesday night. No midweek games for the next fortnight so hopefully back to back tip top performances coming up.
Not that they were poor today, you understand. Just saying.
