Kobe - WBA-Josh - 27-01-2020 Basketball legend Kobe Bryant legend has died at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash. His 13 year old daughter has also died in the crash. Now I’m not going to try to make out that I know much about basketball. I don’t follow it and I was terrible at it in school but I do know Kobe Bryant and all that he achieved in the sport. It’s sad that the sporting world has lost another legend. RIP Kobe. RE: Kobe - St Charles Owl - 27-01-2020 Obviously its huge news here in LA, he played for the LA Lakers for his entire career winning 5 championships in the process. In this area he was bigger than the sport itself, a true sporting icon not only to the world of basketball but across so many other sports. Its ironic that LeBron James only last night overtook him for 3rd spot on the all-time scoring record in the NBA and that the Grammy's are being held tonight at the Staples Center in LA, the place known as Kobe's House!!! Kobe for many years was the No1 player in the NBA, he took over that mantle from Michael Jordan and held that position until the rise of LeBron!! For sure he had some controversies off the court but Kobe never had any on the court and certainly helped the NBA and basketball as a whole rise in popularity and worldwide appeal. Its certainly going to be an emotional time for the next few weeks in the NBA as the season nears the playoffs and across the whole of LA!! RIP Kobe. RE: Kobe - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 27-01-2020 I'd only vaguely heard of him by name, so there's no point in me trying to eulogise on someone and something I knew nothing about, but obviously it's a godawful thing to happen to a man and his teenage daughter, and I hope his remaining family will get the full support of the sporting world in the weeks to come. RE: Kobe - BaggieSteve - 27-01-2020 As a big NBA fan, I really admired Kobe Bryant, he was genuinely one of the greatest players of the modern era. Seems so poignant happening the day after Lebron James passed his Lakers scoring record. As others have said, for this tragic accident to also take the life of one of his young daughters makes it even more distressing RE: Kobe - Stairs - 27-01-2020 Terrible. I also know nothing about basketball but a man in his prime and his daughter is extremely sad. It’s a helicopter again. Should I ever win the lottery I’ll never buy or start using a helicopter. They seem to have a higher than average roll in tragedy RE: Kobe - Blue Baggie - 27-01-2020 Sad day, his wife is expecting as well, it don't get much worse. RIP Kobe a true great and legend in the game. |
