A MASSIVE GAME - Baggiebob(BBB) - 29-12-2019

Our team could be 6pts ahead of Leeds after the New Year game, or maybe still heading the table on 1/2 goal difference if Leeds win.

This game will be a game changer, cos if Leeds win will they then continue on to be in the top two, or not? Huh

Last year having had so many draws cost us, so will that happen again, and if so who would your top two be?

Any thoughts?

I think we will win today, we have not played well since Swansea. So COYB get back on our path of destiny - in Bilic we trust

He ho Blue, we should beat Middlesborough today (cough Barnsley) - though its after the Leeds match that I'm concerned about if we lose. Huh

I am a traditionalist.

I want West Brom to win and Leeds to lose and start their decline into the play-off space where they will eventually lose in the 2-leg match and stay in the Championship

It seems that my fears came early - Oops.

Brum did try to help us though so Leeds are also shaky in defense. So just hoping.

RE: A MASSIVE GAME - Blue Baggie - 29-12-2019

It's about time we lost tbh, at least it will have finally sunk in now, our dip in form has now turned into a slump.
Our position is still intact for promotion and we are still in charge of our destiny - not these so called other good team in the division.
Slav has to be brutal i'm afraid, some of our players are just not performing. Our whole team are not capable of motivating themselves and Bilic is coming up short atm.
It is no good just continuing to select the same players - he's tried that and it's getting worse.
Our priority for Jan must be a new club captain with big balls. I don't care what position he plays.
This is just my opinion and is more of my thoughts not of just today loss, more of what's wrong with our team/squad for weeks now.

RE: A MASSIVE GAME - baggietrousers - 30-12-2019

Think in the main I agree with BlueBaggie.
Too many have switched off recently with Livermore, Phillips and Sawyers all suffering a significant dip in form, Gibbs unable to complete a run of games, Ferguson believing the hype, Pereira missing Diangana (which he'll have to get used to) and a strike force offering little threat.
Now is the time for Slav to turn it round and get us back firing. We have good players who don't just suddenly become poor players, but they do need leadership on and off the pitch, and we do need to strengthen in January.
We are still going up, i do believe that, but we need out of this slump sooner rather than later.

RE: A MASSIVE GAME - Blue Baggie - 31-12-2019

Looking at what has changed since the Swansea result - Stay with me - DIANGANA has been missing.
But he is one player - how can one player has such an impact on a team.
1, Without him the opositions defence can and do push further up the field.
2, Sawyers then has to play a more defensive position and our midfield loses momentum. Sawyers has been poor for weeks
3, Pereira then gets two markers which retricts his contribution also. His chances and set ups have dried up or reduced.
4, Phillips work rate has had to increase and the space created by Diangana's movement has disappeared. He is tired after 60 mins and is now creating very little.
5, Service and chances for our forwards has become far far less. Our shots and shots on target home or away has halved in recent games.
6, Just one player has disrupted our whole game, unfortunatly we don't have another Diangana.
Him being back to face Leeds will be massive for us. keeping him is vital and promotion could be at risk without him.
Well that's how I see it anyway. Without him we need a player with a brain and a stick to to get us back on track.
