Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Amelia Chaffinch - 15-10-2019 ![]() Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town

Ewood Park
It's off to Ewood Park to take on Venky's Chicken Pluckers' Blackburn Rovers.
![]() I always think they look like they should be in a Quentin Tarantino film.
Rovers have spent a fair bit of time struggling under the Venkys. A few weirdly timed manager sackings and (bizarre) appointments didn't help. They have stabilised under Tony Mowbray who was appointed in 2017 and are currently 14th in the table on 14 points.
Form:
![]() So, going on the last three, they have two losses and one draw, whereas we haven't been beaten in three.... that would look really good if we didn't know our form to that point! But, the again, didn't we just need a win to bolster us? Why shouldn't we be expecting a result here?....
![]() .... because they have the better of us overall?
![]() But does that matter?
![]() ... The last time we were in the same league from 2012 to 2017, most results were draws and we had the last win.
So, shall we throw away the form book? Yes, I think so.
Who's likely to find the back of the net?
![]() Karlan Grant's got 6.
![]() Manager Tony Mowbray had his biggest success as a manager at WBA. Having almost taken them to the Premiership via the play-offs in 2007, he guided them to promotion as Championship champions (sounds odd, that) in 2008. Unfortunately, he took them straight back down again in 2009. He also took them to the FA Cup semi final stage in the promotion year.
Two of our players thought they were heading for the big time when they transferred from us to Rovers...
![]() Local lad, Jonathan Stead. Town 2002-04, Rovers 2004-05, Town 2013-15.
![]() Jordan Rhodes. Town 2009-12, Rovers 2012-16. Apparently all he did was score goals.
![]() Rhodes had a more successful time at Rovers than Stead but, then again, Stead was better at Rovers than his second stint at Town... no matter how much we willed him on. Still, he's a grand lad.
Advice for our fans:
Ewood Park was built in 1882. Town played in the FA Cup semi final there in 1938 and we beat Sunderland 3-1.

RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Lord Snooty - 16-10-2019 Well done, Chaffers. ![]() Hopefully we will continue our good form and stuff these six fingered feckers! ![]() RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Lord Snooty - 17-10-2019 Kongolo and Pritchard are both back in the squad. RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - SHEP_HTAFC - 18-10-2019 I know we won at Stoke in our last away game.....but I hope to God we don't play the same way again. We were dire in that game for large spells. The football was horrific. Come on Cowleys.....let's play with a bit more bite and a bit more flair. RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - jjamez - 18-10-2019 Didn't Simon Eastwood have a stint at Blackburn? Apparently they are struggling defensively, with their left back being very much a weak link. Diakhaby to come to the fore again? RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Baggiebob(BBB) - 18-10-2019 Excellent write up. Well done. ![]() RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Lord Snooty - 18-10-2019 Pay on the day is available at £28 if you fancy a wander over there. Where are all those Premier League category one lot now? ![]() RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - theo_luddite - 18-10-2019 ![]() Good chance to extend the winning run against a side that is as inconsistent as they come and leaking goals. They are capable of scoring too but letting in 4 against QPR who could only get 1 past us at our worst means they have problems in defence. The thick end of 5500 km between where I am and where they are means this Cat 1 fan won't be strolling up to pay on the gate this weekend Snoots. ![]() RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - Amelia Chaffinch - 18-10-2019 Danny's press conference As per usual I can't find anything from BRFC????? RE: Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town - jjamez - 18-10-2019 Camera man probably fell asleep listening to mowbzzzzzz... |
