Prediction League Results/Tables Week 8 - Beefy Comeback Stalls - bomberbrown1968 - 30-09-2019

Pts CS CR GB BB SB
Derby 13 2 3 -3 3 1
Bomber 11 1 4 -3 3 1
Zinman 8 0 5 -3 3 0
St Charles 8 1 3 -3 3 0
A.A.A. 7 1 3 NP -3 0
Themaclad 7 1 2 -3 3 1
Sanjay 5 0 4 NP -3 0
Beefy 5 0 4 NP -3 0
B.B.B. 2 0 2 -3 3 0

Low scoring week this week, mainly due to everyone getting the Gamball incorrect, including those that didn't play it!! Top of the pile this week is Derby with 13 points, he got a week high 2 correct scores as well as his Bonus Ball and for the second week in a row finds himself slowly but surely making a move to get out of the relegation spots!! 2nd spot this week goes to Bomber with the same 11 points total as last week. Scoring on half the games and making the bonus will see you near the top of the weekly table!

Joint 3rd spot goes to our two scorers, Zinman and St Charles with 8 points each. Zinman scored on half the games like Bomber and Derby, but had no correct scores, whereas for once SCO actually got a correct score to add to the Bonus ball they both picked up. AAA and our current leader Themaclad share 5th spot this week on 7 points, of course AAA didn't play the Gamball but for once this actually saved him 3 points as he like everyone else predicted it wrong anyway! For some strange reason AAA put his Bonus Ball on a Boro win!!!!  Whistle  Themaclad only scored points on 3 games but did pick up the Bonus ball and probably just did enough to stay at the top of the League.

Sanjay and Beefy came in joint 7th, each with 5 points. Sanjay got the same as his score last week and continues to struggle after an early flying start. Beefy has become the model of consistency - basically crap each week - although the rest of us are very happy with his improving push for relegation!! Both of them didn't play the Gamball and this saved each of them 3 points!! Bringing up the rear is BBB on just 2 points, its been a season of inconsistency with him so far, so his mid table position is not likely to change as a consequence of only scoring points on 2 games!!

Cheers
SCO

A few ups and downs in the top half of the Premiership, but no change in our pole sitter as themaclad enjoys his third week at the top, though his lead is cut by a couple to just 4 points from Bomber who climbs a place into 2nd as 2 of last years promoted trio show the way to their more established rivals as we go in to the second quarter of the season already.

Zinman drops a place to 3rd having opted to play the Gamball for the 4th time this season, but also failing with again for the 4th time too, it was week 13 last year before he played it this many times and it could be as long again if the current trend continues. Sanjay managed to climb a place up to 4th, but his less than spectacular week also meant he lost further ground on this seasons pacesetters.

BBB suffered a similar poor week that left him in 5th and within a  point of slipping again to an improving AAA who continues to outscore those around him, meaning there are actually less than 20 points between top and 6th.

An 8 point gap then to our next two who find themselves tied in 7th, as SCO and Derby fight over a relegation play off place and an automatic drop to the Championship, though it's far too early to say a relegation battle is looming yet.

However, with a 16 point gap down to the bottom of the table, where we find Beefy, it's  not too early to write off our eternal optimist, who has been promising a comeback fro the last couple of weeks. It won't be long before the 20+ points forecast comes or the "don't judge me till after Christmas" quote appears  Tongue

A week which saw the Championship putting the so called premier players to shame with some excellent scoring (but not quite for everyone). 3 players got 7 results correct and it was also a good week for the bonus ball with only 1 player losing points on it (that's what happens when you play the bonus on a team yet to win this season and with only 1 win all year).  Scoreball points were rarer, largely due to Albion's unexpected but most welcome clean sheet.

Our clear leader this week is Stairs with an exceptional 24 points. He was the only player to score points on the gamball and this also happened to be his only correct score. With a total of 7 correct predictions and extra points from the bonus and scoreball, Stairs might just have got his season kick started. MightyBrom was another impressive scorer with 2 correct scores in his 7 correct predictions, including his bonus and was only denied top spot by losing out on the gamball. Joker appears determined to replace Beefy in the premier league after another solid week. He also got 2 correct scores, including the bonus, and matched Stairs' 7 correct predictions but lost out on the gamball and Albion's clean sheet.

Twerton was the second player to max out his bonus and scored a respectable 12 points with Baggieone the 5th championship player to reach double figures this week. Amelia failed to predict any correct score and on a good week for bonuses, her no ball policy may have been costly - still 8 points represents a decent return.

It may have been a productive week for most players but there are always the exceptions. Lady Jane's only correct prediction was her bonus ball but her points from that were wiped out by the gamball to leave her on zero points for the week. This still wasn't bad enough to put her bottom though, that honour (?) goes yet again to Lord Snooty - 2 correct predictions but a complete failure to gain any ball points leaves him once again on minus 2 for the week - one consolation for him though, at least he's showing some consistency (rather like Huddersfield!)

Twerton spent his fifth week at the top of the Championship with another decent week as he seems to see off a different challenger every week, his new challenger this week is Joker, 3 points back, who teased Beefy this week that they could be swapping leagues next week - well, if things keep going the way they are, he might not be far off the truth.

BaggieOne slipped a place back to 3rd, though he is just a further 3 points away, while Lady Jane was the victim this week, failing to trouble the scorer and dropping two places back into 4th.

This allowed Mightybrom, posting a seasons best to sit just a solitary point away in 5th, while Stairs pulled out all the stops and was another to post a seasons best by some way. He now climbs into 6th and these two have busted my theory that the league was splitting into two distinct halves so early in the season.

Amelia slipped another place back in to 7th to be closer to her other half, Snooty,  who can't buy a good week at the moment and saw his points tally reduce by another couple of points as he suffered a second minus week on the trot.
