Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 08-08-2019 So Hibs finally oppose the Govan footie club on Sunday and if I was in Paul Heckingbottom's shoes I'd be emphasising to my players that they are facing a team that has just returned from a physically demanding match in Denmark. We must deploy a hi-tempo game plan but with a tight defensive mid and back line. Lets test out "tired legs" and keep "pushing it"! As usual, I'm curious to see who the SFA assigned referee is for this game because that role could well be significant in deciding who wins or who loses this match and we'll find out if that biased trend of favouring Rangers, during the "big incidents" at Ibronx, still prevails as it did last season. We need a "strong" referee but we must also "show up" and give them a game and a half!! No slouching please as they are not as good as being suggested by their media and observed last Sunday in their "jammy" win v Killie!! GGTTH RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - St Charles Owl - 08-08-2019 Big early test for both teams to maybe see where they truly are instead of the media hype leading up to the new season!! Games are played on the pitch, this one should be a good one!! RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - hibeejim21 - 09-08-2019 Good result for the scum in Denmark. I'm not expecting to get anything at the Mike Ashley arena......However we might as well have a go at this early stage in the season, their defence looks distinctly uncomfortable if you run at them and I thought Kilmarnock were the better side 2nd half against them last week and should have got a point. Fingers crossed! RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 09-08-2019 You are absolutely right re their defence Jim and, contrary to that positive 2-4 result last night, that Rangers defence was exposed on a lotta occasions by a team that effectively didn't take their scoring chances before Rangers took the lead just before HT. I must also add that the level of defending by this Danish team was abysmal TBF!! I'm expecting Hibs to defend far better than that Danish side, FC Midtjyland. I came to the conclusion that other Scandinavian sides in the likes of Norway and Sweden are a better standard than those in Denmark after analysing that poor performance v an average team like Rangers that will be beaten by a compact and competent half-decent Euro team that can score goals for fun!! RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 11-08-2019 FT 6-1 and a record defeat for Hibs in horrendous rainy conditions that has never been witnessed for a good few years by Hibs fans because we are normally "tight" in defensive mid and defensive positions!!!! ![]() ![]() RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - St Charles Owl - 11-08-2019 Ouch!! I am sure this one defeat won’t define your season, but the effect on the team as a whole going forward may well do. You will need to bounce back quickly for this defeat to firmly put it behind you. RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - hibeejim21 - 11-08-2019 That was xxxx disgraceful, we got exactly what we deserved. We weren't great last week either.and a lot of that was down to poor tactics. Jury deffo out on the managers summer signings too. Not one has stood out for me as being much cop . Can't say I was particularly impressed with what he had to say after either..... Just unacceptable really RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 11-08-2019 Agreed re that post match interview - he was unchallenged re his decision-making during key moments of this match plus his tactics were "open to question". He can criticise the "lack of commitment" as much as he wants but my main theme of criticism is the fact he signed players in the summer and he and his coaches train them and prime them!! My last line in my OP mentioned it was important that Hibs "show up" and give them a game and a half - they never "showed up"!! Another issue that was observed last Saturday was the fact that quite a few Hibs players didn't look match fit, a huge concern before going to Ibronx. Why are they still not match fit and we are well into the month of August???? Also playing a team that has just competed in a testy Europa League match and losing 6-1??????? That is unacceptable and not in keeping with the positive aspirations of a footie club of Hibs standing!! I think Hecky's "coat is on a shoogly peg" and rightly so. But so early in the season???? The deficiencies are glaring TBF!! RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - hibeejim21 - 11-08-2019 He talks about playing a high pressing game but we most certainly aren't!! In fact the team looked like it didn't know what the game plan was. Couldn't believe his tactics today. Absolutely clueless. RE: Rangers v Hibs, Sun 11 August, KO 3.00pm - ritchiebaby - 11-08-2019 Been away all day, so not seen any of the action yet. In fact, probably better that I don't bother, after reading the comments above. |
