The Penny is Dropping - Devongone - 31-07-2019 The penny is finally dropping on Bob's Board. Though they are almost all (unwisely) backing us to beat Dover they are bleating about our lack of signings who'll actually improve the side. Our rivals almost all seem to have been making interesting signings from our own level and below ...... and they also seem to be able to attract EFL loan signings. Despite bluster from Sheri the loss of Carter almost offsets our gain of Mandeville and Buchanan. So that effectively leaves the loan of Spyrou as the major plus, if and when Denton is fit and back in Sheri's good books. As Amantchi is about as likely as me to get game time on Saturday that leaves us without a truly disruptive player going forward to pull Dover apart. We look very reliant on Mandeville's skill and eye for both a pass and a goal. Dover will almost certainly just stick a man on him. Making a prediction for Saturday I'd pretty confidently begin Chesterfield 0 ...... and I'd suggest Dover's new wide player Nassim L'Ghoul might well have a hand in creating a goal or two for them. I'm not suggesting we bust our boats getting in several panic signings ..... I am saying there are still players capable of making a difference at our own and lower levels if Sheri looks for something other than development players. |
