It's been a while... - tidy - 27-04-2019 Hi guys. Been battling a couple of cancers.... ![]() Have we enjoyed the season and would we have settled for a play-off at the start of the season? I seem to remember reading lots of comments, at the start of the season, on various platforms that we would 'do a Sunderland'. RE: It's been a while... - talkSAFT - 27-04-2019 Put in perspective, Tidy, I think all of us would have been more than happy with 4th/5th - I was actually quite wary we'd 'do a Sunderland'. If we'd had Holgate start of the season, and if we'd had the Brunt/Morrison/Phillips of a few years ago, and if we'd still got Foster, we'd be up now! The midfield has been very poor, though. You say "been battling" - does that mean ongoing? We're right behind you, mate. We've missed your humour - and we might need it next month, so keep battling!! ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: It's been a while... - tidy - 27-04-2019 (27-04-2019, 09:35)talkSAFT Wrote: Put in perspective, Tidy, I think all of us would have been more than happy with 4th/5th - I was actually quite wary we'd 'do a Sunderland'. Cheers talkSAFT. Without going too deep. A year of chemo for Myeloma and now halfway through treatment for Prostate cancer... ![]() I do think Big Dave lost his way and some disastrous results in a cut-throat league at a key time spoilt our chances of automatic promotion. Play-offs always scare me as 'form' goes out-of-the-window. RE: It's been a while... - Baggie_One - 27-04-2019 That horrible C word, i lost my mom to it a few years ago. talkSAFT you keep fighting that bastard, your sportsbabble team are right behind you. I agree with most, 4th / 5th isnt a major disapointment, i have actually enjoyed the season !! HOWEVER, a few games Big Dave resulted into the usual i will play you there, even though you have a left foot. Strongest side available and i think we could have done it, just to think if we had beaten Bristol City and Millwall i might have gone to the last game of the season. Win today and hope full Villa to beat Leeds......to take it into the last game.............. I'm relying on that factor when we play the Villa! ![]() RE: It's been a while... - Beefy 1965 - 27-04-2019 Keep fighting Tidy ![]() RE: It's been a while... - WBA-Josh - 27-04-2019 Welcome back Tidy and sorry to hear about your health troubles. Keep on fighting and kick cancer’s teeth out. With regards to your questions, I have enjoyed this season but not as much as I thought I would and at the start of the season my hope was for us to finish in the play-offs in 4-5th place whilst giving our young players good game time. RE: It's been a while... - drewks - 27-04-2019 Yeh, I echo all the positives above, tidy. Welcome back and keep smiling - it's our only option ![]() RE: It's been a while... - 4evaabaggie - 27-04-2019 Nice to hear from you again tidy, keep fighting, here's hoping for a happy outcome. I was hoping for automatic, after the transfer window feared a playoff was best we could hope for, emotions been up and down with various performances / results, with a lot of our 45 minute games and our aged squad I feel we don't deserve to go up, poor tactics and players out of position for the last three years shows we are not learning or adapting, need major overhaul of playing staff, money could be an issue. I fear a promotion could be followed by a relegation. I want to be entertained and watch traditional Albion football not another pulisball, don't lose kinda game. Have I enjoyed the season, that now depends on whether we succumb to the dirty vile, as we tend to in important games. Overall probably indifferent to this season as a whole. RE: It's been a while... - Blue Baggie - 27-04-2019 Hi Tidy - I'm new on here, well i've not been here for years. Caused a few waves and upset a few by talking honestly about our club and how I see it being run and managed. It fades into insignificance compared to real life. The C is a B'std and for you to have a double must be mind numbing. I know plenty of people who have beat it. Try and post - it's always good to take your mind off things for a while. I have health issues (No C) mainly heart and it pi55es me off as I cannot do the things I used to consider to be everyday tasks. Going to watch the baggies is a NO NO as it's considered to be excitable and upsets my arrythma? Getting old is a bitch at times. Get back to posting and telling me i'm a moron, I don't take offence. |
