FA Youth Cup semi final - Bierzo Baggie - 01-04-2019 FA Youth Cup semi final this evening. Big game for the youngsters and I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this one or maybe they have.. Correct me if I’m wrong but most of the team has been recruited locally. Compare that to the other teams still left in the competition (City and Liverpool) who recruit their players from all over the world. So, an amazing achievement whatever the result tonight. Somebody has been working well behind the scenes over the last few years to achieve this.. Obviously in a completely different context but didn’t Celtic win the European Cup in 1967 with every single player originating from in and around Glasgow? RE: FA Youth Cup semi final - Beefy 1965 - 01-04-2019 Good post COYB ![]() RE: FA Youth Cup semi final - Onetruebaggie - 01-04-2019 Good luck to the kids, we have a bright future in these, on a sidenote, I was impressed with Kyle Edwards against the blues the other night, what with him and Harper and the new crop, the youth generation is coming!! They certainly are starting coming through again, question is are they going to stay. Harper still not signed as far as I am aware #Berahino/Brown. Unfortunately can’t seem to copy the link but worth a read. Agree Borders just found it myself. The article also mentions the loss of izzy Brown and others poached by "bigger clubs". I remember JP questioning the investment in the Academy if the cream were going to be continually skimmed off by more fashionable Clubs. Dan Ashworth rightly gets a lot of credit; just wish we could tempt him back to the shrine. ![]() RE: FA Youth Cup semi final - Blue Baggie - 02-04-2019 Fantastic achievement with a.crop.of local kids, plucked from.our own area. Where as the other side was a cosmetic international team. Brilliant advertising for our Academy. Sometimes it's not all about the winning. Well done.
