Some seem happy about it but I'll reserve judgement. If he has improved and matured with age then great, if not we could be in for a stormy ride. He was always a "nearly man" for me. Never quite fulfilled his potential but lets wait and see.

Maguire has extended his contract. Now that is good news.

As you say, Dancing, it`s been a few years and he was still a youngster when he left us, so he may well have matured a lot. I suspect that after Saturday Sheri has decided he needs someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net with some consistency; if we`d had somebody (undamaged) on the pitch who could have done that, the result would have been different.

That is indeed good new about Maguire.

Scott was 24 when he left us, after 103 appearances.

At 29 he has scored fewer than 80 goals in 300+ lower league appearances.

He was good at scoring late goals from the bench.

I don't think he has been a big part of the success any of the teams he's played for have achieved.

Certainly Gateshead's success this season has been based on Armstrong, now back at Middlesbrough, and Rigg. Scott seems to have benefited from them rather than the other way round.

Career form suggests he'll score us some goals, but not the amount we really need. Sincerely folks as saccharin Hughie used to say, I hope I'm wrong, but he looks like a huge step in the wrong direction. It wouldn't take long to come up with a list of potentially more potent non-league strikers who wouldn't have cost the earth if they were prepared to play for Chesterfield.

And he's 29 ........... what about the future, what if we survive this season's debacle, do you really see Scott as part of a side leading the promotion race? It took Koroma and Bonne to get Orient there, is Scott in their league?

Super Sub Scott Boden is back. Pretty happy about this. Also Dan Jones apparently is coming back as well.

RE: Boden Back - Devongone - 31-01-2019

Albert Phelan is back in training and apparently Jim Brown is up for taking over from Joe Anyon.

Levi Amantchi is in line for a game with Newbold C of E Primary School.

Exciting news for Charlie Wakefield, he blew out nearly all the candles on his birthday cake and has a new pair of boots, and Luke Rawson is travelling all the way to Dronfield without his mum. Well done Luke!

On Saturday we're set to play in special retro Back-to-the-Future black shirts which change colour whenever you look at them.

Who'd have thought it, Danny Boshell's back too ....... ?

RE: Boden Back - Dancingwilldoit - 31-01-2019

We send Rawson out on loan and the rumour is we are bringing in a Cardiff City youngster who's only goal in 16 games was at Alloa. That's Scotland not Hawaii. Why oh why? Correction Airdrie not Alloa and its official - pity.
Seems his dad organised the helicopter that crashed last week.
Dan Jones I would like to see back. He's fast and can whip good balls in unlike some other full backs we have had and currently have. I was disappointed to see him go but after his spat with Caldwell he didnt stand a chance. Anybody that spoke out against Caldwell is in my good book.

RE: Boden Back - Devongone - 01-02-2019

I think Dan speaks out against the whole world ....... which I've nothing against. As you may have guessed, with thousands of players in the game I'm not much in favour of reverting to raves from the grave. And to be honest if you are unwanted by the bottom side in League Two, you'd be unwanted by me in the division below.

So long as we don't put young McKay in charge of transport to away games he might in himself be okay, we'll have to see, but I don't see the point in deliberately signing another block to the futures of Amantchi and Rawson. As his dad is an agent, contacts and a couple of lads from Nantes might be more of a long-term benefit. The lad from Newcastle looks a nice boy but with Laurence fit and now on a long contract I'm not sure where he fits in other than as cover. I would have liked a really good striker (better than Scott), but then so would everyone at every club. And I really thought we needed something more in midfield, even with Carter coming back, a cleverer player than we've got .........
