WE SCORED FIVE GOALS IN A GAME ON SATURDAY ............

and if Gary Waddock takes the Bristol Rovers job we'll be winning in the next round too.

1 for Shaw as well which should do him the world of good.
Bedford at home next. They will probably beat Aldershot.

Aldershot are in a player crisis Matt. They can't even field a full bench of subs. Against Bedford they fielded almost exactly the same squad as they had at Harrogate in the League. They actually brought in another regular first teamer in Fenelon who scored, as did his fellow regular Wanadio who we had a on trial two years ago. What are you talking about?

Tonight in the replay at Bedford they are going to field the youth team players.

Sorry Matt I just got it, moments before I logged back on. AND that's even more beyond my comprehension! In League games they've been down to a three sub bench. So now a club that almost certainly needs a victory, and would be capable of achieving that, is going to deliberately lose by fielding players not good enough for the bench ....... three days ago? I'm so old I think play your strongest available team and get on with it. Southport put their reserve team in against Solihull Moors in view of the big financial reward available from last night's replay against Tranmere. I can just about see that except now they are out of the FA Cup, the FA Trophy and battling against relegation. (Just the moment for us to try and grab Ryan Astles and Dion Charles!)

RE: BY THE WAY - SaltergateBorn - 18-12-2018

Personally, I don`t have a problem with that. I`d be quite happy with a home tie against Bedford - who, I think, are the lowest ranked team left in the competition (correct me if I`m wrong). I agree, though; I can`t see any sort of sense in that.

RE: BY THE WAY - spireitematt - 18-12-2018

Bedford currently winning 4-0.

Bedford won 8-0. Should we be worried?

RE: BY THE WAY - spireitematt - 19-12-2018

It was 7-0 not 8-0

I would hope not, Matt. They`re currently 8th in the Evo-Stik South Division 1 Central. That`s Level 8 of the FA pyramid ; 3 below us and 1 below Basford United. Like I said, I believe they`re the lowest ranked team left.

I don`t know anything about what`s going on at Aldershot (perhaps they played their U12 team or summat) but even in the dark days of a couple of months ago I don`t think we should have worried and certainly don`t think we should now; provided we take the competition seriously, of course, which MA quite rightly seems to want to do. If we can`t win this one.............
